How Words Mean written by Vyvyan Evans and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-09-10 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

How Words Mean introduces a new approach to the role of words and other linguistic units in the construction of meaning. It does so by addressing the interaction between non-linguistic concepts and the meanings encoded in language. It develops an account of how words are understood when we produce and hear language in situated contexts of use. It proposes two theoretical constructs, the lexical concept and the cognitive model. These are central to the accounts of lexical representation and meaning construction developed, giving rise to the Theory of Lexical Concepts and Cognitive Models (or LCCM Theory). Vyvyan Evans integrates and advances recent developments in cognitive science, particularly in cognitive linguistics and cognitive psychology. He builds a framework for the understanding and analysis of meaning that is at once descriptively adequate and psychologically plausible. In so doing he also addresses current issues in lexical semantics and semantic compositionality, polysemy, figurative language, and the semantics of time and space, and writes in a way that will be accessible to students of linguistics and cognitive science at advanced undergraduate level and above.

This book focuses on research in management accounting that uses Malaysia’s business environment as the scope of study. The motivation to embark on this publication was due to the recognition that although management accounting has received increasing interest from various organizations including government, businesses and educators, published documents that report findings from research in management accounting undertaken in Malaysia are still limited. The objective of this book is to address the gap by providing readers with five research oriented articles on management accounting issues, namely Performance Measurement Design in Service Organizations; Management Accounting and Control Systems in the Service Sector; Activity Based Costing; Intellectual Capital and Management Accounting Practices; and Customer Focused Manufacturing Strategy and Performance Measurement Systems. The articles are written by a pool of active researchers in the area of management accounting, and are expected to have high academic value. Each is complete with a literature review, methodology, data analysis and references. Even though this is the case, the articles have also been carefully chosen and edited for the general reader. This book is suitable as a reference for researchers, academics, managers, accountants, and policy makers.

This book is a groundbreaking exploration of public opinion in sub-Saharan Africa. Based on the Afrobarometer, a survey research project, it reveals what ordinary Africans think about democracy and market reforms, subjects on which almost nothing is otherwise known. The authors find that support for democracy in Africa is wide but shallow and that Afrcns feel trapped between state and market. While Africans are learning about reform on the basis of knowledge, reasoning, and experience, few countries are likely to attain full-fledged democracies and markets anytime soonn.

Program Evaluation written by Kenneth J. Linfield and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-09-03 with Psychology categories.

This text provides a solid foundation in program evaluation, covering the main components of evaluating agencies and their programs, how best to address those components, and the procedures to follow when conducting evaluations. Different models and approaches are paired with practical techniques, such as how to plan an interview to collect qualitative data and how to use statistical analyses to report results. In every chapter, case studies provide real world examples of evaluations broken down into the main elements of program evaluation: the needs that led to the program, the implementation of program plans, the people connected to the program, unexpected side effects, the role of evaluators in improving programs, the results, and the factors behind the results. In addition, the story of one of the evaluators involved in each case study is presented to show the human side of evaluation. This new edition also offers enhanced and expanded case studies, making them a central organizing theme, and adds more international examples. New online resources for this edition include a table of evaluation models, examples of program evaluation reports, sample handouts for presentations to stakeholders, links to YouTube videos and additional annotated resources. The Psycho Analysis Of Children written by Melanie Klein and has been published by Random House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-06-08 with Psychology categories.

The Psycho-Analysis of Children, first published in 1932, is a classic in its subject, and revolutionised child analysis. Melanie Klein had already proved, by the special technique she devised, that she was a pioneer in that branch of analysis. She made possible the extension of psycho-analysis to the field of early childhood, and in this way not only made the treatment of young children possible but also threw new light on psychological development in childhood and on the roots of adult neuroses and psychoses.
