An abridged translation of “Afdhalus Solawat 'ala Saiyidis Sadat” by Ash-Shaikh Yusuf Ibn Isma'il An-Nabhani – about Salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ – with foreword by Mudarris Ilyas Zakaria. The first part of the book consists of sections relating to the meaning, obligation and merits of Salawat based on transmitted texts from Quranic verses, Prophetic Hadiths and sayings of the Islamic scholars. These sections cite close to a hundred Prophetic Hadiths, mostly on the motivation and encouragement to Salawat abundantly, especially on Fridays, in order to obtain abundant and important benefits in both Dunia and Akhirah. The second part of the book consists of some of the best methods of Salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ, including those transmitted from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself or the great 'Ulama such as Al-Imam Ash-Shafi'i, As-Saiyid Ahmad Al-Badawi and As-Saiyid Ahmad Ibn Idris Radhiyallahu 'Anhum. The book ends with a 50-verse poem on the summary of the Prophetic life in sequence from the creation of his light since before the beginning of time and until the continuous existence of his Prophetic life after his human departure. The author said in the introduction of this book, “My dear Muslim brothers who love the Prophet and who wish for Salawat upon him, help yourself with this book for the sake of salvation in your religion and your world. Regardless of how much you seek, you would almost certainly not find any compilation of a book like this.” The author, Ash-Shaikh Yusuf Ibn Isma'il An-Nabhani (1849-1932), was from the Levant and was a scholar of Al-Madzhab Ash-Shafi'i. He served as the Chief Justice of the Court of Human Rights in Beirut for over 20 years and was devoted to knowledge, literature, composing poems and writing books, especially in defence of his beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The translator, Muhammad Zulhikam Jamil, is a freelance Arabic-to-English script translator particularly in the field of Islamic knowledge. With an experience of over 10 years, majority of his translation works stem from his interest in themes relating to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

This event is expected to bring about collaboration, scientific transfer, and publications that can contribute to the scientific fields of arts, design and humanities. The conference aims to facilitate research presentations and knowledge exchange in art, design, technology, and social humanities, as well as create academic networks among students, lecturers and researchers in the related fields. The Book Krishna and Mediation is a humble attempt by the author to go back into the history and look at the institution of mediation in India. The Book is not written as a legal treatise. It is written from the point of view of layman and to understand how meditation prevailed in India from ancient time to settle disputes and bring peace and harmony to the society. Though the institution of mediation could be traced back to Vedic period; and Treta Yuga, where it was invoked to avert war between Rama and Ravana, the focus however, has been made on Krishna doing mediation in Dwapar Yuga. The reason for doing so is that Krishna has been considered as Lord of the Universe; and when the Lord of Universe himself adopts a particular mode of dispute resolution, it motivates the entire society and encourages people to resolve their disputes and differences through that mode. The indigenous justice delivery system included Kulani, Sreni, Puga, Mahajan, Mediation and Panchayats. Mediation had always been one of the most important methods of resolving disputes and conflicts. Mediation was done by Angada between Rama and Ravana in Treta Yuga; by Lord Krishna between Kauravas and Pandavas in Dwapar Yuga; and by Supreme Court in Ram Janambhoomi case. Unfortunately, all the three mediations failed. Nevertheless, the community learnt its potential as a dispute settlement mode and invoked it in endless number of cases in the informal manner. The Book discusses conflict and dispute in detail. It also discusses many facets of Lord Krishna. Emphasis has been made on Lord Krishna as Mediator. The Book also discusses Mediation in India and at the international level in contemporary times. It also discusses about the pendency of cases which is going to touch the figure of 5 crores, which is more than the population of several countries taken together. The Book discusses how mediation may become game changer and bring down the pendency of cases. The references have been made to dharma, verses of Gita, stories, poem, etc. to exemplify certain facts. I sincerely hope that the Book will come to the expectations of the readers.
