A novel that deals with an extremely sensitive and topical issue: Teen prostitution, coercive or voluntary. It talks almost exclusively about the coercive form of the phenomenon; rightly so since it is the dramatic part and involves very young, unwitting victims, and must be opposed with all our might. However, we must not forget that there is also the voluntary aspect. A phenomenon that is much more widespread than we think among today's teenagers who, in order to get recharges, latest generation cell phones, rather than a designer dress or money, choose to sell their bodies... consciously. And not always, as in the case of the protagonist, driven by the family's precarious economic conditions. This is also to be countered, upstream. In the book, the two aspects intersect, proceeding in parallel, developing a dense, seamless, compelling plot. Asha is the third child of an Albanian immigrant family, in Italy for 20 years. Decent, honest, hard-working people, well integrated into the social fabric, but barely making ends meet. Seeing her friends dress well, have beautiful homes and everything they desire, while she is forced to wear shabby clothes and live in a dilapidated house, makes her feel envious. Drawn by a friend, blinded by the prospect of having what her parents cannot give her, she runs away and decides to sell her body to get them. This choice, however, while allowing her to fulfill all her desires, soon makes her regret not being able to have a life as a normal teenager, cultivating friendships, laughing, joking, falling in love. Sold to a criminal organization, segregated and forced to their will, she escapes several times, but is always found. Discovering that she is pregnant, unable to find the little boy with whom she conceived him, she attempts to make a middle-aged man, whom she met during one of her escapes, believe that he is the child's father. Having failed in this attempt as well, tired of running away with those criminals who give her no respite, she decides to end it all. The discovery of her suicide note, which she leaves on a coffee shop table, kicks off the story.

A unique experiment by the author through a fictional story parallelly suggests an essential review required in the Constitution of India to bring in positive changes in the interest of the world. Today's argument of Judiciary, Legislature and Executive is that they are one of the three pillars or arm or wing of Government i.e Constitution are ordinarily unquestionable. A number of instances where Thrimoorthis, so-called professionals would be better understood by the common man through the three wise monkeys of Mahatma Gandhi "being dumb, deaf and blind". In other words, see no justice, hear no complaints of citizens and speak no regulations “Executives don’t want to speak, Legislators don’t want to see and Judiciary doesn’t want to hear". Inclusiveness can happen if the present three pillars of the Constitution are revisited and find scope to incorporate other important aspects of life. Seven pillars namely Legislative, Judiciary, Executive, Health, Security, Education and Agriculture required to be given adequate representation while revising the Constitution to encourage the participation of the common man. In addition, the fictional story of a family brings out human values of compassion, devotion and service to society by guiding readers to find an answer to the purpose of life. “THE GREATNESS OF PROPOSED REVISION IS IN THE SPIRIT AND THE INTENTION OF CREATING WORLD LEADERS FOR THE SAFETY OF MANKIND” Surgeon Captain Anand (Retd) “Contribution from AdvaySvaraPrema and family members”

Why did I do it? Why did I enter the country of deceit? What took me into it? I hesitate to use the word love, but what other word is there?' Devayani chooses to live alone in the small town of Rajnur after her parents' death, ignoring the gently voiced disapproval of her family and friends. Teaching English, creating a garden and making friends with Rani, a former actress who settles in the town with her husband and three children, Devayani's life is tranquil, imbued with a hard-won independence. Then she meets Ashok Chinappa, Rajnur's new District Superintendent of Police, and they fall in love despite the fact that Ashok is much older, married, and-as both painfully acknowledge from the very beginning-it is a relationship without a future. Deshpande's unflinching gaze tracks the suffering, evasions and lies that overtake those caught in the web of subterfuge. There are no hostages taken in the country of deceit; no victors; only scarred lives. This understated yet compassionate examination of the nature of love, loyalty and deception establishes yet again Deshpande's position as one of India's most formidable writers of fiction
