School effectiveness and school improvement have different origins: School effectiveness is more directed to finding out "what works" in education and "why"; school improvement is practice and policy oriented and intended to change education in the desired direction. However, in their orientation to outcomes, input, processes, and context in education, they also have much in common. In the theoretical part, different orientations have been analysed and combined in a model for effective school improvement. Based on this analysis, an evaluation framework was developed for the analysis of the case studies of school improvement projects in the participating countries. The theoretical model and the results of the analyses of the case studies were combined in a framework of effective school improvement.

Her Husband written by Luigi Pirandello and has been published by Duke University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Fiction categories.

One of the twentieth century's greatest literary artists and winner of the Nobel prize in 1934, Luigi Pirandello wrote the novel Her Husband in 1911, before he produced any of the well-known plays with which his name is most often associated today. Her Husband--translated here for the first time into English--is a profoundly entertaining work, by turns funny, bitingly satirical, and tinged with anguish. As important as any of the other works in Pirandello's oeuvre, it portrays the complexities of male/female relations in the context of a newly emerging, small but vocal Italian feminist movement. Evoking in vivid detail the literary world in Rome at the turn of the century, Her Husband tells the story of Silvia Roncella, a talented young female writer, and her husband Giustino Boggiolo. The novel opens with their arrival in Rome after having left their provincial southern Italian hometown following the success of Silvia's first novel, the rather humorously titled House of Dwarves. As his wife's self-appointed (and self-important) promoter, protector, counselor, and manager, Giustino becomes the primary target of Pirandello's satire. But the couple's relationship--and their dual career--is also complicated by a lively supporting cast of characters, including literary bohemians with avant-garde pretensions and would-be aristocratic esthetes who are all too aware of the newly acquired power of journalists and the publishing establishment to make or break their careers. Having based many of the characters--including Silvia and Giustino--on actual literary acquaintances of his, Pirandello reacted to the novel's controversial reception by not allowing it to be reprinted after the first printing sold out. Not until after his death were copies again made available in Italy. Readers will find Her Husband eerily evocative of the present in myriad ways--not the least of which is contemporary society's ongoing transformation wrought by the changing roles of men and women, wives and husbands.

What connects Africa and the Caribbean is trans-Atlantic slavery which transported numerous sons and daughters of Africa to the plantations of the New World in the service of Western European capitalism. Because of this shared experience of trans-Atlantic slavery and European colonialism, issues of culture and identity are major concerns for African and Caribbean playwrights. Slavery and colonialism had involved systematic acts of cultural denigration, de-humanisation and loss of freedom, which left imprints on the collective psyches of the colonised Africans and enslaved peoples of African descent in the Caribbean. Both experiences brought intense cultural and psychic dislocations which still impact in various ways on the lives of Africans and peoples of African descent around the world. African and Caribbean playwrights try to help their peoples regain their dignities by affirming their cultures, histories and identities. The book focuses on the similarities and differences between Caribbean theatre and the theatre of sub-Saharan Africa, showing how identities and cultures are negotiated and affirmed in each case.

Venanzio Rauzzini written by Paul F. Rice and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-06-19 with Music categories.

Venanzio Rauzzini (1746–1810) enjoyed a multi-faceted career as a singer, composer and concert director. He began his career in Rome in 1765 as a soprano castrato, and quickly established his operatic credentials in various Italian centres before undertaking leading roles in Vienna and Munich. He returned to the Italian peninsula in 1772 and created the role of Cecilio in the premiere of W.A. Mozart’s opera, Lucio Silla on 26 December. Mozart was so pleased with Rauzzini’s singing that he composed the motet, Exultate jubilate, for the singer. Rauzzini accepted the invitation to become the primo uomo at the King’s Theatre in London for the 1774–75 season of Italian operas. Such was his success that the contract was extended for a further two seasons. Rauzzini remained in Britain rather than returning to the Continent. He continued to sing professionally, directed concerts in both London and Bath, and was a prolific composer. Rauzzini directed the subscriptions concerts in Bath from 1777–1810, raising their prestige to the equal of any in London. Furthermore, he was one of the most sought-after voice teachers in Britain. The cantata, Piramo e Tisbe, was drawn from his opera of the same name that was given its first London performance on 16 March 1775. Rauzzini’s opera proved to be a favourite with both audiences and other singers, and it was revived in London in 1776 and 1781. The composer never published the complete opera, but extended excerpts from it were published in 1775 that created a cantata for the title characters. Not only did the arrangement preserve the principal elements of the story, it likely had greater utility as a performance score than would the publication of the full opera. The overture of the opera has been appended to this edition of the cantata.
