Neville Lancelot Goddard (19 February 1905 - 1 October 1972) was one of the leading lights of the New Thought movement throughout the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He was born in Barbados but emigrated to the United States in 1922, where he initially worked as a dancer in the New York theatre scene. After meeting an Ethiopian rabbi who introduced him to Kabbalah and other forms of mysticism, Neville turned his attentions towards metaphysics. He came to view the Bible allegorically rather than historically and taught that rather than there being an external God in heaven who is separate from us, each of us has God within us in the sense that the human imagination is the only God. Any person can therefore achieve anything by imagining his or her wish fulfilled. Neville wrote ten books in all, this one being the first. In addition to writing books, Neville also gave hundreds of lectures during his career, many of which were recorded and are readily available on the internet. Although there are editions of all Neville's books in one volume, those new to his philosophy and/or New Thought, in general, may well find his teachings more digestible if taken a book at a time. It may well also be necessary for many to read this book several times before being entirely comfortable with both his message and his method - and before going on to the next one. One of the main things about following Neville's teachings is the need to try them out as you learn them - just reading them will get you exactly nowhere! "At Your Command" was first published in 1939. This particular volume, part of the series "Library of Thought", has been produced by Bridestone Books. Bridestone's mission in relation to this book series is to produce fully typographically edited and corrected versions of classic works while fully maintaining the author's original meaning, making the books easier to read by clearing up many of the annoying typographical errors often found in older manuscripts. All Bridestone Books are decently bound and are always produced in a clear, readily readable font.
