During breathing – in the process of constant exchange and crossing of boundaries between the organism and its environment – air as an «immaterial» material becomes active. For the first time, this anthology brings together studies on breath from the perspective of the arts and humanities, as well as experimental scientific and design practices. Focusing on the period from 1900 to the present day, the publication covers an era during which air has become a precarious medium: whether in the context of climate change or global pandemic, space technology or gas warfare, air is now co-created and manipulated by humans. Against this backdrop, breath appears as an elusive yet vital substance that reveals the interconnections between the physical, symbolic, technological and social realms.

It is no secret that Christianity has been widely rejected in Japan with less than two percent of the population identifying as Christian. The dominant worldview in Japan is deeply animistic, with beliefs such as the Japanese mana-concept, ki (気), the Japanese soul-concept, and the concept of God/god(s), kami (神), being deeply rooted in the culture and fundamentally influencing society. Dr Martin Heißwolf, with his years of experience in Japan, critically examines Japanese animism in light of core Christian beliefs, such as the concepts of “peace” and “salvation.” Central to Japanese people’s rejection of Christian truth is the diametric opposition of its supernatural message to the natural focus of Japanese animistic folk religion. Heißwolf’s meticulous study is framed squarely within missiological thought and praxis so Christians serving in Japanese contexts are better able to communicate the message of the gospel by more fully understanding Japanese people, people by whom God wants to be known.

Meta Magick The Book Of Atem written by Philip H. Farber and has been published by Weiser Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-07-01 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

In Meta-Magick: The Book of Atem, Philip H. Farber combines traditional ritual sensibilities with contemporary concepts of neurolinguistics and memetics to create a unique entity - Atem. In this instance, the essence of an entity is encoded in a book and activated by the reader. At the same time, the book is a comprehensive manual of evocation, containing dozens of easy-to-follow rituals and exercises for exploring and creating magical entities of every sort. Farber teaches readers to wake up from their habitual trance, to reprogram themselves to stand in the Mystery without unnecessary mystification. This supercharged fusion of tried-and-true magical and psychological techniques moves beyond trauma, healing, and recovery into self-fulfillment and self-transformation. Combining both disciplines with methods such as intentionality, autohypnosis, visualization, personification, and experiential journeys, Farber creates a powerful system that opens the way to peak experiences, self-knowledge, even cosmic consciousness. Rather than importing standardized healing images, readers learn to create their own emergent metaphors, their own creative strengths and flexible freedom.

In this time of profound change and renewed hope, high demands are being placed on each of us. We are called upon to respond with devotion and courage. River of Breath offers a path from old to new ways of being, a path toward personal and cultural transformation. Margot Biestman transports the reader beyond thinking and imagining to sensing the simple, ancient, yet immediate reality of breath movement in the body. Through sensing her own breath as she writes, she allows her words and drawings to emerge from her essence and flow onto the page. For the reader, just taking in these expressions of her truth is itself an invitation to join her in an intimate breathexperience. A separate section contains detailed guidelines for specific breathexperience sequences, inviting the reader to practice allowing and sensing the natural breath moving in the body. Principles of breathexperience, benefits, application in daily life, a breath class, individual hands-on treatment, and a brief history complete the book.

The Implosion Of Negativity written by Andreas Hau and has been published by BoD – Books on Demand this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with American poetry categories.

Die Dissertation The Implosion of Negativity ist in englischer Sprache verfasst. Englischer Klappentext: For most readers and critics Paul Auster's oeuvre begins with The New York Trilogy, yet his major success as a novelist was preceded by a decade of almost obsessive devotion to poetry. The Implosion of Negativity is the first book-length study of Paul Auster's early work. From his dense, intensely lyric sequences of the early 1970s to the more discursive style of Auster's final book of poems, Facing the Music (1980), and on to his experimental prose of the early eighties, The Implosion of Negativity traces a fascinating journey through the author's formative years. Andreas Hau's dissertation begins with a detailed analysis of Auster's early long poem "Unearth", examines overlooked influences such as Paul Celan and Martin Buber, and continues with Auster's exploration of his Jewish heritage in Wall Writing, his rediscovery of the American objectivists in "Disappearances", and his encounters with the visual arts in Fragments from Cold. Poetics Of Breathing written by Stefanie Heine and has been published by State University of New York Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-05-01 with Literary Criticism categories.

Breathing and its rhythms—liminal, syncopal, and usually inconspicuous—have become a core poetic compositional principle in modern literature. Examining moments when breath's punctuations, cessations, inhalations, or exhalations operate at the limits of meaningful speech, Stefanie Heine explores how literary texts reflect their own mediality, production, and reception in alluding to and incorporating pneumatic rhythms, respiratory sound, and silent pauses. Through close readings of works by a series of pairs—Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg; Robert Musil and Virginia Woolf; Samuel Beckett and Sylvia Plath; and Paul Celan and Herta Müller—Poetics of Breathing suggests that each offers a different conception of literary or poetic breath as a precondition of writing. Presenting a challenge to historical and contemporary discourses that tie breath to the transcendent and the natural, Heine traces a decoupling of breath from its traditional association with life, and asks what literature might lie beyond.
