Magnífica y novedosa obra acerca de las patologías retinianas y de la mácula de la mano del Dr. Lawrence A Yannuzzi, W. Richard Green y Richard E. Hackel, tres reputadísmos líderes mundiales en la disciplina. El Dr. Yannuzzi es Profesor de Oftalmología Clínica en la Universidad de Columbia y Jefe de Cirugía del M anhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Asimismo, es el fundador y director de la M acula Foundation Inc, en donde desarrolla también su actividad investigadora participando y desarrollando numerosos ensayos clínicos aleatorizados. Es el pionero en la interpretación de angiografías por fluoreceína y en la técnica de Angiografía con Verde Indocianina en el diagnóstico de enfermedades coroidales. * La obra es básicamente visual, ya que en 928 páginas están contenidas exactamente 5.125 imágenes de diagnóstico reocgiendo por tanto la totalidad de las patologias retinianas y de la mácula, aportando las últimas novedades en el correcto diagnóstico y tratamiento. Entre ellas se encuentra la técnica de la coroiditis multifocal (M FC), la retinopatía aguda zonal oculta externa (AZOOR), la miopatía patológica, el Síndrome de múltiples manchas blancas evanescentes (SMMBE). * Especialmente interesante resulta la incorporación de un código de colores. Así, a la hora de presentar las imágenes se "bordean" con diferentes colores, categorizándolas en 5 estadios. Se contempla las siguientes categorías: imágenes generales, imágenes obtenidas por angiograma con fluoresceína, con autofluoresencia de fondo, angiograma con verde indocianina y la fotografía libre de rojo. * La obra se acompaña del recurso ExpertConsult en el que están presentes todas las imágenes que pueden descargarse para presentaciones, seminarios... * Es de destacar también el magnífico diseño de la obra, ya que se incluye toda la serie de imágenes de las diferentes patologías contemplando desde los estadios iniciales hasta los más avanzado, presentando asimismo las variaciones fenotípicas para cada uno de los trastornos. En cuanto a la maquetación también es fruto de la gran experiencia de los autores, ya que se ha intentado reducir al máximo los blancos de la página; introduciendo toda la información sobre cada patología para poderla ver de "un vistazo" y cada una de las imágenes ha sido convenientemento "recortada" con el fin de reflejar la estructura/anomalía que se quiere enfatizar.
