Hi. My name is Aaron. At the age of 23 I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, formerly known as Asperger's Syndrome. At the age of 27, I was given Lysergic Acid Diethylamide 25, colloquially known as Acid. Long story short: when the LSD met my ASD, I experienced incomparable relief for-and, in some sense, a near-total resolution of-my struggles with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This text tells the story of my autistic perceptions, before and after LSD, while also proposing theories and questions worth considering amid the modern resurgence of psychedelic research. ALL proceeds from the sale of this text will be donated to psychedelic research organizations.

The book covers some of the key research developments in autism and brings together the current state of evidence on the neurobiologic understanding of this intriguing disorder. The pathogenetic mechanisms are explored by contributors from diverse perspectives including genetics, neuroimaging, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, neuroimmunology, neuroendocrinology, functional organization of the brain and clinical applications from the role of diet to vaccines. It is hoped that understanding these interconnected neurobiological systems, the programming of which is genetically modulated during neurodevelopment and mediated through a range of neuropeptides and interacting neurotransmitter systems, would no doubt assist in developing interventions that accommodate the way the brains of individuals with autism function. In keeping with the multimodal and diverse origins of the disorder, a wide range of topics is covered and these include genetic underpinnings and environmental modulation leading to epigenetic changes in the aetiology; neural substrates, potential biomarkers and endophenotypes that underlie clinical characteristics; as well as neurochemical pathways and pathophysiological mechanisms that pave the way for therapeutic interventions.

Autism represents one of the biggest health challenges facing children today. Whilst experts around the globe strive to unravel and truly understand how autism develops and presents itself, relatively little is still known about the condition. Meanwhile, strong evidence has emerged that the diet in children on the autistic spectrum can have a significant role to play in the management of their symptoms. A growing body of research reveals that some challenging characteristics present in autism may be positively affected by the introduction of a gluten- and casein-free (GFCF) diet. Autism: Exploring the benefits of a gluten and casein free diet offers an easy-to-read alternative to sifting through the science. Written by experts in autism research, food, nutrition and dietetics, the book cuts through the science-speak to offer readers a no-nonsense overview of diet and autism together with a range of useful recipes and handy hints for making mealtimes fun for children with autism and related conditions.

The Myth Of Autism written by Michael Goldberg and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-02-28 with Health & Fitness categories.

Experts agree that America is in the midst of a disturbing epidemic of what has thus far been diagnosed as autism. In just thirty years autism diagnoses have risen from 1 in 5,000 children to 1 in 110, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But in the history of our society there has never been an “epidemic” of any developmental or genetic disorder—it is scientifically impossible. So what is this mysterious affliction known as “autism,” and how can we stop it? Dr. Goldberg and his colleagues illustrate why autism cannot be genetic, but is a symptom of a treatable neurological disease that attacks the brain’s immune system. Readers will come to understand: • Autism is not psychological or developmental, but a medical disease. • Autism is caused by a dysfunction in the neuro-immune system and often by secondary neurotropic viruses that impact the neuro-immune system and brain. • Illnesses such as autism, ADD/ADHD, and chronic fatigue syndrome all have different “labels” but are actually variations on the same thing: neuro-immune dysfunction syndromes (NIDS). • A NeuroSPECT scan is a diagnostic tool which, used in combination with proven therapies and treatments described in this book, is saving lives today, while opening the door to new therapies. • What you can do to transform your own life or the lives of your loved ones. Dr. Goldberg believes that in order to save the next generation of children from the incurable stigma of an autism diagnosis, we must quickly realize that all of these disorders are the result of a curable disease process.
