Ave, palavra, é um livro Póstumo do Guimarães Rosa publicado em 1970. A composição final do original seria concebida pelo amigo e escritor Paulo Rónai, que, ao lado dos textos indicados por Rosa para integrar o livro, acabaria adicionando outros que o ficcionista mineiro havia começado a rever. O livro distingue-se dentro do amplo espectro da obra do autor por reunir textos de diferentes gêneros. Podem ser destacados três dos vários instantes extraordinários deste livro. "Fita verde no cabelo (Nova Velha estória)" configura-se numa criativa evocação do célebre conto de fadas "Chapeuzinho Vermelho". Os poemas que integram o livro, por sua vez, indiciam que, apesar de ter se dedicado com inconstante frequência a criar versos ao longo de sua vida, foram certeiras as ocasiões em que Rosa se rendeu à arte poética. Cabe ainda destacar em Ave, palavra a declaração repleta de amor ao seu Estado natal, estampada no sublime texto "Minas Gerais".
