Aviation has played an important part in shaping Australia’s culture and history through the course of the twentieth century. Australia embraced aviation from its earliest days, eagerly responding to its potential to cover a challenging country, to bring far-flung communities closer and to provide services that could not be delivered any other way. Add the romance of pioneer heroes, the vital role of aviation in wartime and the capacity to deliver aid to people in need in Australia and beyond, and it is clear why aviation is at the heart of Australia’s recent history. This book aims to set out the major themes that characterise Australia’s aviation history for a broad audience and to provide a foundation for a broader discussion, and for further research, about how aviation transformed Australia. Connecting the Nation is a vital and timely introduction to the history of civil aviation in Australia as we prepare for the centenary of civil aviation services in 2020.

AVIATION REGULATION AND LICENSING: THE LAWS OF AUSTRALIA is a unique text expertly written by Dr Gary N Heilbronn to cover both the practical and theoretical aspects of aviation regulation and licensing in Australia. This text is a practical guide to the procedures and licensing requirements of aviation industry businesses and personnel. It covers aircraft registration and parts approval, the monitoring of licence breaches, appeal and review mechanisms and commercial controls at both the international and domestic level. The text also discusses relevant competition and trade practices issues and analyses the administration of safety and technical aspects of civil aviation in Australia. These discussions are prefaced by an explanation of the basic theoretical principles of airspace ownership and territorial boundaries. The principles-based approach ensures the text is concise, informative and easy to use. Its clarity will assist aviation professionals to grasp the nature and extent of the obligations and rights relating to their professional activities and the operations that they are licensed to perform. This clarity, together with breadth and depth of coverage, makes this text an essential reference tool for the busy practitioner and student. This book develops and expands on material in Subtitle 34.2 "Aviation" of THE LAWS OF AUSTRALIA legal encyclopaedia.

The Single Aviation Market Of Australia And New Zealand written by Jeffrey Goh and has been published by Psychology Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Business & Economics categories.

Since the International Civil Aviation Convention was concluded in 1944,a great deal has changed in the world of international aviation. Deregulation was introduced in the United States in 1978, the historic Single European Aviation Market was created in 1993, and now the Single Aviation Market of Australia and New Zealand has also been created. Liberalisation and competition has brought unprecedented choice to air transport users. There are no signs that this trend will go into reverse. Many of these efforts have taken place in the context of regional aviation markets from Europe to South America to Africa and across to Asia. Together, they offer a different perspective to the search for a new juridical order in the regulation of international aviation. This book seeks to add to this search. It examines developments in Australasia and argues that Australia, New Zealand and the Single Aviation Market they have established have much to offer the continuing campaign to re-write the constitution and conventions of international aviation.

Australia has an enviable record for airline safety - No one has ever died in an accident involving a commercial jet aircraft in Australia. The reasons behind this have been the source of much speculation and theories tend to focus on issues related to the natural environment and even luck. However, with human error being present in arguably 100% of aircraft accidents, it seems reasonable that a good safety record is at least partly the consequence of human intervention. This text uses Australian aviation as a case study of a safe system to explore the interactions between the natural, operational and human environments. Based on doctoral research including a major survey of pilot and air traffic controller perceptions, the book is unusual in that it looks at positive examples in safety rather than taking the traditional reactive approach to safety deficiencies.
