Bíblia Sagrada King James A King James Version (KJV), datada de 1611, desempenhou um papel crucial na história das traduções bíblicas. Patrocinada pelo rei Tiago I da Inglaterra, essa tradução para o inglês tornou-se a mais amplamente divulgada e influente de todos os tempos. Apesar de não possuir uma "autorização" oficial, foi reconhecida como a Versão Autorizada, também conhecida como Versão do Rei Tiago devido à sua associação com o monarca. A necessidade de uma tradução em inglês tornou-se evidente na década de 1380, quando João Wycliffe e outros estudiosos de Oxford produziram traduções da Vulgata. No entanto, essas tentativas foram proibidas de circular, levando William Tyndale a traduzir o Novo Testamento diretamente do grego em 1526. Apesar de sua execução em 1536, Tyndale deixou um legado ao publicar o Pentateuco e revisões do Novo Testamento. A primeira Bíblia completa em inglês foi publicada por Myles Coverdale em 1535, e várias traduções seguiram, todas influenciadas pelas Bíblias alemãs de Lutero.
