Music Publishing covers the basics of how a composition is copyrighted, published, and promoted. Publishing in the music business goes far beyond the physical sheet--it includes live performance and mechanical (recording) rights, and income streams from licensing deals of various kinds. A single song can generate over thirty different royalty streams, and a writer must know how these royalties are calculated and who controls the flow of the money. Taking a practical approach, the authors -- one a successful music publisher and attorney, the other a songwriter and music business professor -- explain in simple terms the basic concept of copyright law as it pertains to compositions. Throughout, they give practical examples from "real world" situations that illuminate both potential pitfalls and possible upsides for the working composers.

Performance simply matters. Technology may allow us to "go bigger", but maybe not necessarily be better when it comes to performance. Now is the time to utilize the amazing tools that are available to us for making websites and applications faster, and to learn how to improve user experience and satisfaction. This collection contains four books: Front-end Performance is a collection of practical articles on front-end website performance for front-end developers. It's packed with useful, real world hints and tips that you can use on your sites today. Back-end Performance is a collection of articles on back-end website performance for web developers. It outlines useful strategies and practical advice. Performance Tools contains tutorials on some of the most popular and powerful website performance tools available. Performance Project contains a series of practical, real-world tutorials, all based around a single project: a simple image gallery blog. We'll build the project, and then run through a series of performance optimization processes; by the time we're done, we'll have achieved very significant performance improvements. This collection is for developers who wish to build sites and apps that run faster. You'll need to be familiar with HTML and CSS and have a reasonable level of understanding of JavaScript in order to follow the discussion, and for book 2, Back-end Performance, you'll need some understanding of server-side development.

Performance Tuning For Ibm Security Directory Server written by Annemarie Fitterer and has been published by IBM Redbooks this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-02 with Computers categories.

In today's highly connected world, directory servers are the IT cornerstone of many businesses. These components of the corporate infrastructure are the foundation of authentication systems for internal and, more commonly, external user populations. Managing a directory server with several hundred internal users is not all that difficult. However, managing a directory server with several million external users in all 24 time zones throughout the world is a much more daunting task. IBM® Security Directory Server software can handle millions of entries, given the right architecture, configuration, and performance tuning. However, that tuning can differ greatly from tuning for a smaller server with only a few hundred thousand entries. Managing and tuning a directory server of this size requires a change in mindset. Tuning and performance must be a focus even before the hardware is ordered. A proactive approach must be taken after installation also, including the pretuning steps to better interface with other products to make installations and migrations successful, and then regular maintenance to keep the directory running smoothly. This IBM Redbooks® publication is the accumulation of lessons learned in many different real-world environments, including a 24-server fault tolerant configuration with more than 300 million entries. The authors pooled their knowledge and resources to provide the most comprehensive performance view possible, from hardware to software, sort heaps to buffer pools, and table cardinalities. In large directory server deployments, use this document as a guide for how to get the right fit for your environment.

This book discusses the design and performance analysis of SDRAM controllers that cater to both real-time and best-effort applications, i.e. mixed-time-criticality memory controllers. The authors describe the state of the art, and then focus on an architecture template for reconfigurable memory controllers that addresses effectively the quickly evolving set of SDRAM standards, in terms of worst-case timing and power analysis, as well as implementation. A prototype implementation of the controller in SystemC and synthesizable VHDL for an FPGA development board are used as a proof of concept of the architecture template.

No single solution applied at one particular layer can help applications solve all performance-related issues with communication services. Instead, this book shows that a coordinated effort is needed among the layers. It covers many different types of technologies and layers across the stack, from the architectural features of the hardware, through the protocols and their implementation in operating system kernels, to the manner in which application services and middleware are using underlying platforms. The book also describes key developments in high-end platforms, high performance interconnection fabrics and communication libraries, and multi- and many-core systems.
