My love of poetry pulls me back to my pen and paper for there seems to be no end to the things I want to write about. Life is poetic in many ways, the happy times and even sad events in life inspire me as they did to write my first book Memories Forgotten. I hope poetry lovers all over will enjoy reading my second book of poems, The Poem Reaper, as much as I enjoyed writing it. My writing is about real life and imaginary things. It is also inspirational as well as funny, including poems that children and older ones alike will enjoy. Life is like a field that is ready for harvest and I gather all the events around us and put them in poetic form. So if you enjoy reading about life and the life around us then you will enjoy the reaping of the seasons of life as I see it and wrote about in this book The Poem Reaper.

You don't know what hell is until you try to get out of it... The moment Luke Hawthorn slid open the window to his bedroom and dropped into the alley behind his uncle's building in Manhattan, the course of his life changed forever. He just didn't know it yet. Six months earlier and 5,500 kilometers away, a new drug called Rave-N stole the life of a friend. Days later, Luke's London home was consumed by a fire that also claimed the life of his mother. Then an uncle he'd never known appeared at his mother's funeral and offered Luke a home in New York City-in Hell's Kitchen. Things are not what they seem in Hell's Kitchen. As Luke's friends in London start to disappear, he begins overhearing bits of cryptic conversation from his secretive uncle. Compelled to find out more, Luke embarks on an investigation that spirals his world into an ever-widening hell that will consume friends and enemies alike. "John Hanzl's writing style and story are similar in some ways to Robert Ludlum's earlier novels?a definite plus. John has an exciting style which draws you in and keeps you turning the pages." ? Kaye Trout, Midwest Book Review "Mr. Hanzl does an excellent job of weaving several subplots around the main plot for a fast-paced, page-turning journey with characters who come to life almost immediately." - Writer'sDigest

Now in his mid fifties, Doug Wallace takes a look back at the summer that not only changed, but directed his life for almost thirty years. Although the novel is set in the sixties, it is not about the sixties. Anyone who has ever worked a summer job away from home or who remembers what it was like to start making adult decisions during their teen years will recall memories of that certain summer. This work is one part “Catcher in the Rye,” one part “Stand By Me,” and a little bit of “Trainspotting.” There are a few tears, a lot of laughs and some of the most colorful people the South has to offer. [Author bio]Mike McNabb, an English teacher in Greenville, South Carolina, has been writing for two years. Prior to becoming a teacher and writer, he worked as a sales manager and sales trainer for Michelin North America. He and his wife, Kay, have been married for thirty years and have two grown sons. To create a comic is not to illustrate words, but to create narrative diagrams and transform strokes into imaging words. The infinite array of possibilities that the merging of text and pictures provides is a garden of forking paths that critics have just started to explore. This is an art that operates as the crossroads of various disciplines, but whose specifications require a thorough understanding of its unique mechanisms. The explosion of experimental works and the incorporation of previously marginal (or nonexistent) genres and themes in comics have enriched an already fruitful art in ways that continue to surprise both readers and critics. This collection of essays offers a space of reflection on the cultural, social, historical, and ideological dimensions of comics. With this in the background, the book focuses on three main areas: the origins and definitions of comics; the formal tools of the medium; and authors and their works. The historical and formal approach to comics, as shown here, is still essential and the debate about the origins and definition is still present, but two thirds of this collection formulate other treatments that scholars had not started to tackle until recently. Does this mean that the study of comics has finally reached the necessary confidence to abandon the artistic legitimization of the medium? Or are they just new self defense mechanisms through alliances with other fields of academic interest? This book will add to the debate on comics, as did the international conference that led to it. It provides a channel of communication with an art, a two-headed medium that, like the god Janus, operates as a hinge, as a meeting point, as a bridge between pictorial and literary expression.
