Shoghi Effendi stated that the first duty, and the focus of sustained efforts, of every faithful follower of the Bah' Faith is to strive to acquire a more adequate understanding of the Revelation of Bah'u'llh. Although a full comprehension of such a Revelation is beyond the limits of our understanding, a clearer understanding of its basic truths will empower us to derive fresh inspiration and to gain further spiritual nourishment, which in turn will support and maintain our services to the Cause (Shoghi Effendi, The World Order of Bah'u'llh, p. 100).Shoghi Effendi wrote "The Dispensation of Bah'u'llh" in 1934 in the form of a letter addressed to the Bah's of the West to assist them to fulfil the obligation of deepening their understanding. The letter was published together with a selection of his other letters in 1938 in the book entitled The World Order of Bah'u'llh. "The Dispensation of Bah'u'llh" provides an accurate and clear description of the fundamental verities of the Bah' Faith concerning the station of its Central Figures as well as the twin crowning institutions of the Guardianship and the Universal House of Justice. Grasping and upholding these verities will enrich the spiritual life of the individual. This tutorial is designed to assist you in studying and assimilating the content of "The Dispensation of Bah'u'llh". It is called a tutorial to emphasize the concept underlying its development. In a tutorial, a tutor facilitates learning for an individual or a small group. This book has been designed and developed to simulate, as much as possible, the tutor-tutored relationship in a self-paced personal study. The tutorial identifies the main themes covered in Shoghi Effendi's letter and splits related paragraphs into chapters. Hence, the 130 paragraphs of "The Dispensation of Bah'u'llh" are apportioned for study across 27 chapters. The size and complexity of each chapter reflects the content and intricacy of the issues addressed in the paragraphs included therein. The title chosen for each chapter reflects the main theme covered in the paragraphs. In addition, two extra chapters address those questions that arose following the sudden passing of Shoghi Effendi and the lack of any lineal descendant to succeed him as the next Guardian. The first chapter explores the possible reasons that Shoghi Effendi did not leave a will nor appoint a successor. The second chapter examines the defection of Charles Mason Remey after the passing of Shoghi Effendi, and his unsubstantiated claim to the Guardianship.

Now in its second century of existence, the Bahá'í Faith is rapidly gaining recognition as the current major independent world religion. It is second only to Christianity in its geographical spread. It offers credible proofs of its hereditary connections to the earlier Holy Land religions, and maintains its world center inHaifa, Israel. This book presents the Bahá'í Faith as the newest chapter in the ongoing faith of the one and only God. Its aim is to acquaint readers with the message of the Bahá'í Faith, its history and its principles. It is directed to those who wish to explore the fundamental truths in religion and religious values, and who are willing to recognize truth wherever they find it. The book is suitable for individual and small group study, for use with classes on the Bahá'í Faith and comparative world religions. It is intended for serious and thoughtful people of senior high school age and older. View the independent world religions in a new clearer light. Each is part of God's book. Each is true. Each is divinely inspired. The deteriorating moral conditions that are spreading globally have caused devastating gaps in social behavior that endanger the well-being of all societies and nations. The growth of interest in moral and religious values has been stirring calls to action among the established religions. The Bahá'í Faith offers relevant explanations for current world problems. Despite the constant barrage of criticism besieging the American education establishment, and the problems of student social unrest, which tend to mirror conditions in the larger society, some good things are happening in the field of education. Instruction in 'moral values' is seen in many elementary programs. At the secondary and college levels, the spread of course titles like 'Bible as Literature', 'Bible as History', or other comparative religion electives, has been increasing. Religions can teach and not proselytize..

Depending upon their epistemological foundations philosophical systems can be divided into five types: empiricist (Locke), rationalist (Descartes), intuitivist (Bergson), traditionalist (Confucius), and scriptural (Aquinas). In the history of philosophy there were five major waves of scriptural reasoning-Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim. In this context Bah ' philosophy represents the sixth wave, and it finds itself in a fruitful dialogue not only with the traditional forms of religious philosophy but also with modern Western thought which is based solely on reason and empirical observation. In this collection the reader will find articles on various aspects of Bah ' philosophy-philosophical anthropology, philosophy of science, philosophy of culture, epistemology, ethics, philosophy of religion, comparative and political philosophy, and, finally, history of philosophy. The authors of those articles-Bah ' and non-Bah ' scholars-reflect global aspirations of this religion by representing diverse countries of the world-USA, Canada, France, Italy, and Sweden. This collection of articles also introduces a Global Faith Book Series which publishes works on various aspects of the Bah ' Faith and globalization.
