Namun, buku-buku itu tidak sampai pada pembahasan komparatif, morfologi bahasa yang satu lepas dari yang lain. Walaupun bahasa-bahasa itu serumpun, termasuk dalam rumpun Austronesia. Buku Morfologi Bahasa Indonesia dan Nusantara ini menguraikan secara morfologis kaitan antara bahasa Indonesia dengan Nusantara (Melayu Palembang, Sunda, Jawa, Jawa Kuna, Madura, dan Bali). Yang membedakan buku ini dengan buku morfologi sebelumnya adalah teori pendekatan yang digunakannya. Buku morfologi sebelumnya dengan tumpuan bentuk morfem pada suatu bahasa, sedangkan buku ini dengan tumpuan arti morfem dalam lintas bahasa-bahasa serumpun (komparatif) baik secara sinkronis maupun diakronis.
