Audio Beacon Technologies Surveillance And Social Order written by Iliyan (Julian) Iliev and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021 with categories.

This thesis explores audio beacon technology with the aim of elucidating the implications of this technology for the individual in contemporary society. Audio beacons are hidden inside digital devices. They emit and receive high frequency audio signals which are inaudible to the human ear, thereby generating and transmitting data without our knowledge. The motivation for this research is to raise awareness of the prevalence of audio beacon technologies and to explore their implications for contemporary society. The research takes an interdisciplinary approach involving - 1) a survey of audio beacon technology, 2) a contextualization in terms of contemporary theories of surveillance and control and 3) an interpretation in terms of 20th century dystopian literature. The hidden surveillance and privacy of this technology is examined mainly through the humanistic perspective of George Orwell's book Nineteen Eighty-Four. The general conclusion formed is that audio beacon technologies can serve as a surveillance method enhancing authoritarian and exploitative regimes. To mitigate the negative impacts of audio beacons, this research proposes two types of solutions - 1) individual actions that will have an immediate effect and 2) governmental legislation that can improve privacy in the longer term. Both of these solutions cannot happen without a raised public awareness, towards which this research hopes to make a contribution. Finally, this research introduces the notion of a 'digital paradox' in which the dystopian worlds of George Orwell and Aldous Huxley are brought together in order to characterize surveillance and control in contemporary society.

Algorithmic Ethics written by Michael Filimowicz and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-05-29 with Social Science categories.

This book focuses on how new technologies are raising and reshaping ethical questions and practices that aim to automate ethics into program outputs. With new powerful technologies come enhanced capacities to act, which in turn require new ethical concepts for guiding just and fair actions in the use of these new capabilities. The new algorithmic regimes, for their ethical articulation, build on prior ethics discourses in computer and information ethics, as well as the philosophical traditions of ethics generally. Especially as our technologies become more autonomous, operating alongside us in the home, workplace or on the roads, ethics has the potential to limit negative effects and shape the new technical terrains in a more humanly recognizable way. The volume covers a critique of human-centered AI, the effects of AI and the Internet of Things in the domain of human resource management, how decentralized finance applications on the blockchain encode ethical norms into “smart contracts,” and the personal surveillance risks of audio beacon technology operating invisibly in our cellphones. Scholars and students from many backgrounds, as well as policy makers, journalists and the general reading public will find a multidisciplinary approach to questions posed by research in algorithmic ethics from the fields of management, sociology, social policy, public service, religion and interactive media.

The European Digital Economy written by Judyta Lubacha and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-12-22 with Business & Economics categories.

The “digital economy” is a conceptual umbrella referring to markets, organizations and their networks that are based on digital technologies, communication, data processing and e-commerce. It is multidimensional and its dynamic structure must be analysed from various dimensions, such as economic – changes in the nature of resources, production factors and economic processes; technological – technological progress viewed from a macroeconomic perspective vs. technological innovation viewed from a microeconomic perspective; regulatory – challenges facing regulators, new risks affecting the institutional order; and sociological – changes in society’s functioning principles, attitudes towards work and human relations. The purpose of this book is to analyse the effectiveness of digital technologies as well as the fundamental factors that contribute to technological progress in the long run. It also examines structural and qualitative shifts in economies and societies. It investigates many research questions, such as the gap between the level of digital economic development in European Union countries; digital transformation and its impact on workplace skills development patterns; and also the legal framework for data as resource. The book approaches these issues from a multidisciplinary perspective, from law to economics and sociology. It focuses on definitional discussions, the measurement challenges, drivers for digital transition, the impact on labour relations, digital skills and education, data reuse and data extractivism. This is a comprehensive introduction to the different contexts from which the digital economy can be addressed, offering an innovative method for studying this complex phenomenon, and as such, it will be a valuable resource for students, scholars and researchers across a range of disciplines.

Particle Harnessing Systems For Space Beacon Operations written by Quantum Dancer and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-06-14 with categories.

This publication discusses all technologies related to Particle Harnessing, as needed for Space Beacon Operations. This book is part of a series on the Space Beacon Network. This publication contains 27 technical drawings. ///The Space Beacon Network is a series of Beacons which are placed throughout the galaxy. The Beacon Network provides two purposes: as navigation guide, and as communication relay system. Both of these purposes require "Supply Particles". Therefore, the technologies of Particle Harnessing are essential for the Beacon Network Operations. //The Beacon Network as Navigation System operates similar to a series of lighthouses. Each Space Beacon emits a unique signal. This signal is then correlated to a specific position on the Beacon Map. Thus, by using the Signal and the Map, the ship's crew will know their exact location at any time. //However, in order to emit the regular signal, we must have supply particles to emit. Therefore, we must capture the particles, and convert these particles as needed, to emit the signal. This must be done for each beacon in the Network. Thus, the technologies for Particle Harnessing becomes essential to the navigation system of the network. ///The second use of the Beacon Network is as communication relay system. The Space Beacons are aligned along a direct path between each pair of settlement planets. Each beacon itself acts as a relay station, able to boost the power of the message before sending the message along. Thus, using this Beacon Line, we can effectively send messages between any two planets, regardless of distance. //However, again, in order to make this communication relay system work properly, we must have supply particles. The "power" of a message is the number of photons, with the same EM energy. Thus, to increase the power of the message in each Beacon, we must first have the photons to add to the message. Thus, the technologies of Particle Harnessing becomes essential to the communication system of the Network. ///Therefore: the importance of the technologies for particle harnessing must be emphasized. The Space Beacon Network will be an effective system, in multiple ways. Yet it will only be effective if we can capture the needed particles from space, and convert them as needed, for the Beacon Operations. //This Publication provides all the innovative technologies for Particle Harnessing Systems. In this publication, the reader will find numerous detailed drawings on each system. We also explain the science behind each operation, and offer best practices related to the systems. ///The following is a very brief overview of Particle Harnessing: There are two types of particles to capture: photons and neutrinos. These particles can be captured at the Space Beacon, from the particles which travel through space around the Beacon. These particles can also be captured from the nearby stars, using Harvesting Equipment, then delivered to the Beacons. Thus, the technologies for Particle Harnessing include a variety of methods for capturing, storing, and delivering these particles. //The particles must also be converted. This means converting the photon or neutrino to the desired photon system. This is the exact energy (and thus frequency) for the emission. Therefore, the Harnessing Systems will also involve storing the supply particles until needed, then converting to the desired photon systems, before emission. //The science behind all of these concepts are explained fully in this publication. The technologies are shown in detailed drawings, so that the reader will understand exactly how to build and operate these systems. //*This publication contains 27 technical drawings.*
