Jesus' Hebrew name is Yeshua which means “He will save” or “salvation.” His coming is in fulfillment of the promises of God to send salvation to His people. God recorded these promises through Moses and the prophets in the Old Testament, the scriptures from Moses to Malachi. Yeshua says that all the scriptures are about Him.John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.John 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. Lu 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,This volume contains twelve newly revised in depth studies of a few of the places in the Old Testament which testify about Yeshua as the Messiah who is coming again. Isaiah writes that God declares the end from the beginning. Join us as we begin in the beginning with the establishment of the Sabbath and how building the Tabernacle mirrors the creation. We examine the end as we peek into eternity, learn about the seal of God, and find out who reads the Torah in the Great Assembly. Along the way, we meander through the lives of David, Esther, and Abraham frequently encountering Moses, the number seven and the Feasts of the LORD. We finish where we began with an in-depth study of the Messiah as revealed in the first verse of the Bible! Each lesson has a student notes section and discussion questions for use individually or with a group. Join us as we tear out the blank page between the Old Testament and the New Testament and see the scriptures as one unified book given to reveal the character of God and the two comings of Yeshua!John 1:45 …We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Although not in every line and perhaps not on every page, the message of Christ overshadows the entire Old Testament. Finding Christ is the key that both unlocks and locks in the message of the whole Word of God. Jesus Christ is God's final, perfect, incomparable Word. Beginning at Moses seeks to follow the example of Christ Himself Who, "beginning at Moses and all the prophets," expounded from all the Scripture the things concerning Himself.

Privilege the Text! spans the conceptual gap between biblical text and life application by providing a rigorous theological hermeneutic for preaching. Kuruvilla describes the theological entity that is the intermediary between ancient text and modern audience, and defines its crucial function in determining valid application. Based on this hermeneutic, he submits a new mode of reading Scripture for preaching: a Christiconic interpretation of the biblical text, a hermeneutically robust way to understand the depiction of the Second Person of the Trinity in Scripture. In addition, Kuruvilla’s work provides a substantive theology of spiritual formation through preaching: what it means to obey God, the Christian’s responsibility to undertake “faith-full” obedience to divine demand, and the incentives for such obedience—all integral to understanding the sermonic movement from text to application. Privilege the Text! promises to be useful not only for preachers, and students and teachers of homiletics, but for all who are interested in the exposition of Scripture that culminates in application for the glory of God.

How do you read the Old Testament (and the New)? Are you looking earnestly for the culmination of all things in Christ, or are you using the Bible randomly as a book and guide for living "the good life now"? At the end of the Gospel of Luke, Christ Himself said to some puzzling followers: "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?" (Luke 24:25-26). What follows then is the greatest Bible study ever to have happened to those who were listening to Jesus: "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." (v.27). This is a wonderful book on how to look for Christ especially in the Old Testament. Read it and then pass it along. This book has been originally published in 1909 (third edition), and is available in the public domain. In this edition, we updated the language, the punctuation, and biblical references.

Excerpt from Christ in All the Scriptures: And Beginning at Moses and All the Prophets He Expounded Unto Them in All the Scriptures the Things Concerning Himself Of the books of the New Testament only a brief summary is here given, partly because they are so much more studied, partly because to treat of them at any adequate length would swell this book beyond the limits of a single volume, and still more because the chief aim of the present Studies is to show that Christ is the Key to the Old Testament Scriptures. To encourage others to seek Him for themselves, under the guidance of the Spirit, in the pages of Holy Scripture, is the object of this book. "We think that no descendant of Israel can candidly read this volume without the conviction that the Messiah of his own Scriptures and Jesus of Nazareth are the same; and we trust the author will have the satisfaction of hearing that the work has been blessed to many in Israel." -The Theological and Literary Journal "This is a book of great value. It is refreshing to see a work which seems to revive among us, in these days, a spirit of inquiry into the rich mines of evangelical instruction which exist in the Old Testament, and which John Owen, and others in his day, both in England and Holland, knew so well how to explore and appreciate. We can most cordially recommend this important work, which comes from the pen of a gifted layman, formerly a merchant in New York." -The Christian World It is said of the Messiah, in a discourse with two of his disciples, that "Beginning at Moses, and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures, the things concerning himself." And subsequently: "These are the words which I spake unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understandings, that they might understand the Scriptures." On another occasion he said: "Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." And again: "Had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?" At his advent he was, pursuant to a prediction of Isaiah, called Immanu-El, God with us. In conformity with another prediction, it was the office of his fore-runner to prepare the way of Jehovah--the Lord. And an angel announced to the shepherds: "Unto you is born a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord," (Jehovah.) "Philip saith to Nathaniel, We have found him of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth." We should naturally infer from these passages that the delegated official Person, Jesus, the Christ, was the theme of the Old Testament Scriptures; that his official agency and relations were there continuously and amply treated of; that his complex character, his divine prerogatives, his prophetical, sacerdotal and regal offices, his works as Creator, Lawgiver, and Ruler, and his relations as Covenanter and Redeemer, were there conspicuously set forth, and were the recognized and acknowledged objects of the faith and trust of patriarchs, prophets, and all true worshippers. And such undoubtedly was the case. He was the Jehovah of the Old Testament; the Elohe of the patriarchs and of Israel; the Angel or Messenger Jehovah, the Jehovah Zebaoth, the Adonai, the Messiah of the ancient dispensations. Under these and other designations Moses, the psalmists, and the prophets wrote of him; saw, acknowledged, and believed in him; worshipped and praised him in the tabernacle and temple; recognized and obeyed him as their Lawgiver, and trusted in him as their Saviour.

This meticulous manual catalogues all the references and appearances of Jesus Christ in the scriptures of the Old Testament and the Gospels. The notion that Christ's life and death are foreshadowed by many passages in scriptures predating His birth is the central thesis of this book. Allusions to the events of Christ's life are numerous, and the author sets about quoting each one in sequence of their appearance. As such we begin with the Book of Genesis, proceed through the Pentateuch and then the later scriptures. Every passage referred to is discussed at length, the author revealing its pertinence to prophecy and the Son of God. Other verse which ties in to the subject at hand is appended, that the Bible student gains maximal insight. A much-appreciated Biblical scholar who published his works in the early 20th century, A. M. Hodgkin's breadth of knowledge was put to paper across several books. Rousing praise and grace from among Christians, his treatment of Christ in the Bible became a frequent reference source for believers in their communities and churches. Through the author's scholarship we realize fully the significance of Jesus across the scriptural texts, becoming enlightened as to His immense role in the Holy Bible.
