Penelitian ini adalah untuk merekonstruksi Alignment militer antara Kerajaan Aceh dan Usmani mulai tahun 1562 hingga 1640. Alignment ini terjadi setelah Kerajaan Aceh terlibat dalam beberapa konflik dengan Portugis sejak mereka menguasai Malaka (1511). Di sisi lain, Kerajaan Usmani juga mengalami nasib yang sama; beberapa kali melawan hegemoni Portugis di sepanjang pantai Laut Hindia. Konflik antara Aceh-Portugis dan Usmani-Portugis ditemukan di banyak sumber Aceh, Melayu, Usmani (Turki), Portugis, dan Eropa lainnya. Tokoh Portugis seperti Mendez Pinto, Faria de Sousa, Diego Couto, Barros, Barbossa, Xavier dan Beaulieu (Prancis), Peter Mundy, James Lancester, John Davis (Inggris) menceritakan banyak tentang kerajaan-kerajaan tersebut di atas, selain itu tedapat pula arsip Usmani dan manuskrip Aceh / Melayu. Hubungan militer Kerajaan Aceh Darussalam dan Usmani ini disebutkan dalam beberapa studi yang ditulis oleh para peneliti seperti Arun Dasgupta, Denys Lombard, Antony Reid, Salih Ozbaran, Jorge Santos Alves, Azyumardi Azra, Amirul Hadi, Giacarlo Casale, Inggrid S. Mitrasing, dan Pierre-Yves Manguin. Namun demikian, penelitian-penelitian tersebut belum dilakukan secara mendalam dan hanya menjadi pelengkap dari penelitian yang berfokus pada tema tertentu. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi yang lebih detail mengenai hubungan militer Kerajaan Aceh Darussalam dan Usmani, terutama mulai tahun 1562 hingga tahun 1640 M. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi penelitian sejarah dengan empat tahapannya yang khas yaitu heuristik (seni mencari referensi), verifikasi (kritik sumber), interpretasi (analisis isi) dan historiografi. Selain itu, Penelitian ini menggunakan teori alignment; sebuah teori dalam mengkaji hubungan antar negara (internasional). Kajian ini memiliki tiga temuan; pertama, Sultan Aceh dan Usmani terlibat dalam korespondensi yang intens dalam membangun military alignment, kedua, Bantuan Usmani kepada rakyat Aceh ini berupa pengiriman pasukan, meriam / senjata, kapal perang, dan ahli benteng, beberapa pelatih Usmani untuk tentara Aceh, dan ketiga dampak dari hubungan militer ini, Kerajaan Aceh mengalami perkembangan yang signifikan dalam bidang militer yang meliputi strategi perang, produksi meriam, kapal perang dan benteng pertahanan dengan bantuan tenaga ahli Usmani. Penelitian ini fokus pada tahun 1562 dan 1640 (78 tahun) yakni selama masa kekuasaan Portugis di Malaka hingga kejatuhannya atau sampai masa pemerintahan Iskandar Tsani atau tepatnya sebelum masa kepemimpinan wanita (sultanah Aceh). Oleh karena itu, tentunya kajian khusus ini pasti memiliki keterbatasan dalam membahas aspek-aspek lain dari hubungan Kerajaan Aceh Darussalam dan Usmani. Dengan demikian, penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai keduanya masih terbuka untuk dibahas

While most people are familiar with The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, few know that during the last decade of his life Max Weber (1864-1920) also tried to develop a new way of analyzing economic phenomena, which he termed "economic sociology." Indeed, this effort occupies the central place in Weber's thought during the years just before his death. Richard Swedberg here offers a critical presentation and the first major study of this fascinating part of Weber's work. This book shows how Weber laid a solid theoretical foundation for economic sociology and developed a series of new and highly evocative concepts. He not only investigated economic phenomena but also linked them clearly with political, legal, and religious phenomena. Swedberg also demonstrates that Weber's approach to economic sociology addresses a major problem that has haunted economic analysis since the nineteenth century: how to effectively unite an interest-driven type of analysis (popular with economists) with a social one (of course preferred by sociologists). Exploring Weber's views of the economy and how he viewed its relationship to politics, law, and religion, Swedberg furthermore discusses similarities and differences between Weber's economic sociology and present-day thinking on the same topic.
