Costume e società - saggio (45 pagine) - Al centro del mondo d’oggi, motore primo di ogni problema, è il capitalismo. L’epoca nella quale viviamo, quindi, è quella del Capitalocene. Perché Capitalocene? Il termine Antropocene per indicare la nostra epoca, intendendo l’effetto dell’uomo sulla natura, è entrato di uso comune. Ma l'impressione è che il termine distoglie l’attenzione dal vero colpevole di questi cambiamenti, ovvero il Capitale con il suo sfruttamento delle risorse (umane e non) e la sua indifferenza per le conseguenze sul mondo. Perché non è vero che è l’Uomo al centro di tutto, se lo fosse veramente non staremmo distruggendo i nostri sistemi ecologici e sociali. Al centro del mondo d’oggi, motore primo di ogni problema, è il capitalismo. L’epoca nella quale viviamo quindi è quella del Capitalocene. Lorenzo Davia (Trieste, 1981) è ingegnere, giramondo e topo di biblioteca. Suoi racconti sono apparsi in varie antologie. Il suo racconto Ascensione Negata è arrivato secondo classificato alla prima edizione del Premio Urania Shorts, mentre il suo Az-Zinds è arrivato finalista al Premio Italia 2020. Ha vinto il Premio Viviani 2019 con il racconto Il Tempo che occorre a una lacrima per scendere. Ha creato con Alessandro Forlani il progetto di scrittura condivisa “Crypt Marauder Chronicles” per il quale è uscita l'antologia Thanatolia (Watson), finalista al Premio Vegetti 2020. Ha scritto le storie della Fata Mysella pubblicate in New Camelot e Le avventure della Fata Mysella. Assieme al Collettivo Italiano di Fantascienza ha pubblicato l'antologia Atterraggio In Italia. Il suo romanzo Capitalpunk è arrivato finalista al Premio Urania, al Premio Italia e al Premio Vegetti. Ha curato le antologie Pianeti dimenticati (assieme a Giorgio Smojver) e 2050 (assieme a Damiano Lotto). È arrivato finalista al Premio Stefano Di Marino con il racconto Lamento per protesi e spie. Ha vinto il Premio Urania Short 2022 con il racconto Testimone vivente.

Nato nel 1965 a Roma, Sandro Battisti ha esordito nel 1991 con il racconto Il gioco (Stampa Alternativa). Nel 2004 è stato tra gli iniziatori del movimento connettivista con Giovanni De Matteo e Marco Milani, con i quali ha fondato anche la rivista Next. È presente con i suoi racconti in tutte le antologie connettiviste, fino alla più recente, Nuove eterotopie (Delos Digital, 2017) di cui è anche curatore con Giovanni De Matteo. Nel 2006 concepisce e sceneggia con Piero Viola il fumetto Florian dell’Impero, disegnato da Fabrizio Ricci (Cagliostro ePress). Ha pubblicato direttamente in ebook i titoli La mappa è una contrazione (Graphe.it, 2011), tradotto anche in inglese, e Ancient Name (La Mela Avvelenata, 2013). Molti dei suoi racconti appartengono al ciclo dell’Impero Connettivo, uno scenario che si è andato via via arricchendo. A questo universo narrativo appartengono i romanzi Ptaxghu6, scritto in collaborazione con Marco Milani (eds, 2010, poi ripubblicato nel 2015 da Kipple Officina Libraria), e Olonomico (CiEsse Edizioni, 2012). Nel 2014 si è aggiudicato il Premio Urania con il romanzo L’impero restaurato (poi vincitore del Premio Vegetti 2017), ex aequo con Bloodbusters di Francesco Verso, e insieme con questo pubblicato nel volume Il sangue e l’impero (Mondadori, 2015).

Esistono molte possibili soluzioni per narrare la famiglia. Fra realismo e mitopoiesi, il romanzo di famiglia raccoglie aneddoti e lessico, come i riti che legano i membri di una costellazione familiare. La defamiliarizzazione, fra straniamento e naturalizzazione delle relazioni, sfocia nell’invenzione di personaggi a volte surreali, creati per bilanciare il ricordo traumatico di rapporti interpersonali e quello angoscioso della propria infanzia. Mentre Natalia Ginzburg presagiva la rovina della famiglia, intesa nel suo senso più convenzionale, con Caro Michele, dopo il racconto sereno di Lessico famigliare, le varie generazioni narrate nel primo ventennio del Duemila in Prima di noi di Giorgio Fontana e Sangue giusto di Francesca Melandri rivelano come la storia, la politica, la società intervengano e decretino “l’a-linearità” e la necessaria relativizzazione del tempo vissuto da una famiglia. Oscillanti fra la finzione che maschera la realtà angosciosa del proprio vissuto – il caso di Menzogna e sortilegio – e la realtà che si vuole letta come un romanzo, i romanzi familiari contemporanei parlano di noi.

In Speculative Everything, Anthony Dunne and Fiona Raby propose a kind of design that is used as a tool to create not only things but ideas. For them, design is a means of speculating about how things could be—to imagine possible futures. This is not the usual sort of predicting or forecasting, spotting trends and extrapolating; these kinds of predictions have been proven wrong, again and again. Instead, Dunne and Raby pose “what if” questions that are intended to open debate and discussion about the kind of future people want (and do not want). Speculative Everything offers a tour through an emerging cultural landscape of design ideas, ideals, and approaches. Dunne and Raby cite examples from their own design and teaching and from other projects from fine art, design, architecture, cinema, and photography. They also draw on futurology, political theory, the philosophy of technology, and literary fiction. They show us, for example, ideas for a solar kitchen restaurant; a flypaper robotic clock; a menstruation machine; a cloud-seeding truck; a phantom-limb sensation recorder; and devices for food foraging that use the tools of synthetic biology. Dunne and Raby contend that if we speculate more—about everything—reality will become more malleable. The ideas freed by speculative design increase the odds of achieving desirable futures.
