In dieser Fabel steht der Igel stellvertretend für alle friedliebenden, aber dennoch wehrhaften Völker der Erde. Er misstraut dem Fuchs. Auch friedliebende Länder haben Armeen, wenigstens zur Selbstverteidigung. Der Igel in der Fabel hat seine Stacheln zur Selbstverteidigung. Frieden bedeutet auch Schutz, Sicherheit und Freundschaft. Herrscht schon Frieden, wenn zwischen den Völkern die Waffen schweigen? Gewalt im Alltag zwischen den Menschen. Ungerechtigkeit auf der Welt. Frieden bedeutet nicht nur die Abwesenheit von Krieg, sondern die Abwesenheit aller Formen von Gewalt, die uns Menschen bei der Verwirklichung unserer Grundbedürfnisse behindern. Friedenserziehung darf nicht erst in den Schulen beginnen. Schon ganz kleine Kinder haben ein Gespür für Recht und Unrecht, für Gewalt, Freiheit und Liebe. Bernicia Schröder zeichnete die Bilder zur Fabel. Sie ist eine der jüngsten Kinder-Buchautoren des Landes Brandenburg. Bislang veröffentlichte sie „Sara Síth“, eine Fantasy-Geschichte über Freundschaft, Hoffnung und Selbstvertrauen und ist mit einer Kurzgeschichte im Buch „Wir erheben unsere Stimme gegen Cybermobbbing“ vertreten. Wilhelm Busch veröffentlichte diese Fabel im Jahr 1904. Er war ein deutscher Dichter und Zeichner, der humorvoll die bürgerliche Gesellschaft aufs Korn nahm. Er schrieb Bildergeschichten, Kinderbücher, Prosa und Gedichte. Auf seinen Gemälden und Zeichnungen sind Portraits, Landschaften und ländliches Leben zu sehen.
