Music and nature inspire my writings so I traveled extensively during the writing process of this book. I began writing this philosophy treatise at the heart of America by the banks of the Missouri River, where I used to drown myself in the magnificent music of the wilderness when I went on my evening walks. I would stroll solo in the woods and emerge to rest on a bench facing an ocean blue sky, and abysmal thoughts would come to me of their own accord like déjà vus. There, I would sit and sup on the cool evening breeze; and witness our great golden star fall behind the distant red horizon like a sinking ship, and the beatific and tragic sight of that dying day would fill me up with emotions. In that solitude where a person hears their own thoughts speak loudest, I would give into a deep ocean of contemplation, and examine the nature of the world like a tyrant beholding an atlas of the world. I would ask myself deep philosophical questions like ¿if a seed growing into a tree, and a tree growing into a forest is only a brief moment in the history of time, then how much shorter is my life in this world? And if earth is only a dust particle floating in the desert of space, then how infinitesimal am I in the infinite infinities and diversities of nature? Who or what put me in this island called earth? Am I just another artifact in the museum of the universe or am I something higher than a flower or a bird or a crystal?¿ I would compile thoughts until my thoughts thoughts reach the limit and my mind nearly faints from exhaustion. I read nature and wrote at the park until the moon rose and stars arrived to light up the heaven like an army of glowing fireflies. Portions of the book were written by the snowy mountain tops of Utah, and at the beaches of Lake Michigan whose pure blue water ebbs away and flows towards the windy metropolis of Chicago. I then traveled abroad to Africa to collect and recollect my thoughts in the primordial Garden of Eden in South Sudan with its billions of birds, animals, and insect¿s chirping, buzzing, squealing, screaming, and singing in the orchestra of life playing in the theatre of Nature. I meditated and contemplated about life by the shores of Lake Victoria, which reflects the white clouds of Uganda¿s clear sky in its surface like a gigantic mirror on the ground. Then, I went on an intellectual mecca to Europe, visiting intellectualistic sites like the British Library where Marx wrote the most consequential book of modernity. I also went to the British Museum and Oxford University to affirm and confirm the contents of this discourse. The book was actually edited in London. It is called ¿The Future Affects The Past¿ because the subject of déjà vu is the object the other subjects of the book revolve around. It was premeditated by fate before I was even born that I would script this book. Prior to taking my first breath of life; before my heart beat for the first time in this world, I already wrote this book, and it was a matter of time before destiny made it occur into actuality. Wisely so, I do not call this book my own, because I know that infinity is its source, just like the infinitely ancient and creative Nature is the source of all arts and inventions. Nature had copyright on all things. This book is an avalanche of past and present knowledge; it¿s a culmination of precedent human wisdom; it¿s a synthesis of the insights of many books and many minds. I am just a instrument used by greater Nature. Nature is a tremendous bow that shoots arrows from infinite distance away and infinite time ago, and I am only one of Nature¿s arrows of fire who live to illuminate the dark world of ignorance with philosophical knowledge.

Is the origin of life a lucky roll of cosmic dice? Who is behind the origin of the universe? What do the latest scientific discoveries say about the origin of space and time? Beyond the Boundaries of Science explores the cosmic puzzles that accompany our greatest scientific advances. It suggests that there is more, beyond the reach of science—a super-intelligent Designer behind these mysteries. It takes both science and the Bible seriously, comparing the latest scientific theories with the account in Genesis, interpreted as a revelation of the sequence of our origins.

Reimagining The Sacred written by Richard Kearney and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-15 with Philosophy categories.

Contemporary conversations about religion and culture are framed by two reductive definitions of secularity. In one, multiple faiths and nonfaiths coexist free from a dominant belief in God. In the other, we deny the sacred altogether and exclude religion from rational thought and behavior. But is there a third way for those who wish to rediscover the sacred in a skeptical society? What kind of faith, if any, can be proclaimed after the ravages of the Holocaust and the many religion-based terrors since? Richard Kearney explores these questions with a host of philosophers known for their inclusive, forward-thinking work on the intersection of secularism, politics, and religion. An interreligious dialogue that refuses to paper over religious difference, these conversations locate the sacred within secular society and affirm a positive role for religion in human reflection and action. Drawing on his own philosophical formulations, literary analysis, and personal interreligious experiences, Kearney develops through these engagements a basic gesture of hospitality for approaching the question of God. His work facilitates a fresh encounter with our best-known voices in continental philosophy and their views on issues of importance to all spiritually minded individuals and skeptics: how to reconcile God's goodness with human evil, how to believe in both God and natural science, how to talk about God without indulging in fundamentalist rhetoric, and how to balance God's sovereignty with God's love.

Irrationalities in our behaviours have been observed to be essential aspects of our nature. Most of the irrationalities have their origin in the adaptive strategies developed by millions of years of evolution to cope with the environmental harsh conditions of our ancient past. Consequently, we developed quick response systems to meet successfully the challenges of our ancestral environment. They were essential for our survival, but a few have now become redundant in the modern conditions, and are looked down as ridiculous biases. Some irrationalities have actually been found to be essential and beneficial for the well being and growth of our species. During the last few thousand years of our development we additionally acquired a large number of belief systems, superstitions and faiths. Some of these beliefs are not quite rational and reasonable. They mould our personality by affecteting our opinions, decisions, actions and behaviours. We are what we believe. When you hold beliefs without ascertaining their validity, you start losing your ability to doubt and question your beliefs. Fortunately, along with these developments we also created a reservoir of verifiable knowledge by using rational methods during the last few hundred years of our existence. We have a responsibility to familiarise ourselves with these techniques to avoid pitfalls of assuming all beliefs to be true. This book discusses how these irrationalities affect our lives, and how to cope with them.

'Climbing is a bit like rolling a dice - sometimes things fall into place and you achieve your aim. Sometimes your number comes up.' - Sue Fear, April 2006 When mountaineers Lincoln Hall and Sue Fear collaborated in writing Fear No Boundary, neither could have imagined that within a year one would be left for dead and the other would die on the mountains they loved. In April 2006 Sue Fear, the first Australian woman to climb Everest via the North Ridge Route, set out to summit Mt Manaslu, the world's eighth highest mountain. If she achieved this feat, Sue would become the first Australian woman to have climbed five of the world's fourteen mountains over 8000 metres. Sadly it would be her last climb. Although Sue successfully summitted Manaslu on 28 May, tragically she fell to her death in a crevasse during her descent. Fear No Boundary chronicles the incredible journey Sue Fear took on her path to Everest, following her decision to make travel and adventure-guiding her profession. While Sue’s celebration of her fortieth birthday on top of Mount Everest in May 2003 and the nail-biting climb from Base Camp to the summit provides a framework, this updated edition also details Sue's other climbing achievements and includes a postscript outlining her final expedition. What drove this slightly-built and unassuming woman from Sydney's leafy North Shore to set her sights on a career as a mountaineer? How did she feel as a woman climbing in a predominantly male domain? These questions and more are answered as we follow Sue's journey around the world and off the beaten track to destinations such as Bolivia, Bhutan, Uzbekistan and Kamchatka, climbing the Andes, Mount Kilimanjaro and of course the Himalaya. Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2005 for services to mountaineering and the community, in particular the Fred Hollows Foundation, Sue's is an inspirational story. 'Sue was a beautiful person, a great Australian and an inspiration to The Foundation and to all those who knew her' - The Fred Hollows Foundation 'Sue Fear was inspirational. She was a vibrant personality, a mountaineer, a tireless worker for various charities and youth, and a good friend to many' - Australian Geographic

Beyond Einstein Gravity written by Salvatore Capozziello and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-10-27 with Science categories.

Beyond Einstein’s Gravity is a graduate level introduction to extended theories of gravity and cosmology, including variational principles, the weak-field limit, gravitational waves, mathematical tools, exact solutions, as well as cosmological and astrophysical applications. The book provides a critical overview of the research in this area and unifies the existing literature using a consistent notation. Although the results apply in principle to all alternative gravities, a special emphasis is on scalar-tensor and f(R) theories. They were studied by theoretical physicists from early on, and in the 1980s they appeared in attempts to renormalize General Relativity and in models of the early universe. Recently, these theories have seen a new lease of life, in both their metric and metric-affine versions, as models of the present acceleration of the universe without introducing the mysterious and exotic dark energy. The dark matter problem can also be addressed in extended gravity. These applications are contributing to a deeper understanding of the gravitational interaction from both the theoretical and the experimental point of view. An extensive bibliography guides the reader into more detailed literature on particular topics.

Hegemony And Heteronormativity written by María do Mar Castro Varela and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-22 with Social Science categories.

This book reflects on 'the political' in queer theory and politics by revisiting two of its key categories: hegemony and heteronormativity. It explores the specific insights offered by these categories and the ways in which they augment the analysis of power and domination from a queer perspective, whilst also examining the possibilities for political analysis and strategy-building provided by theories of hegemony and heteronormativity. Moreover, in addressing these issues the book strives to rethink the understanding of the term "queer", so as to avoid narrowing queer politics to a critique of normative heterosexuality and the rigid gender binary. By looking at the interplay between hegemony and heteronormativity, this ground-breaking volume presents new possibilities of reconceptualizing 'the political' from a queer perspective. Investigating the effects of queer politics not only on subjectivities and intimate personal relations, but also on institutions, socio-cultural processes and global politics, this book will be of interest to those working in the fields of critical theory, gender and sexuality, queer theory, postcolonial studies, and feminist political theory.
