This book contains sixty Bible inspired poems derived from Bible themes, character summaries, Bible-book summaries, and personal experiences, all laced with theology of God's grace towards our salvation. They are meant for meditation, personal growth and transformation, and thanksgiving to God, for those familiar with the Bible and those who would like to be. These poems are great for Bible devotionals, theological reflection and spiritual growth, and for summarizing sermons and scriptural teachings. But all of these poems promise to inspire, encourage and surprise. That is what the Lord did for me as I wrote these poems over the last two years. I guarantee when you read these poems you will experience the same inspiration to seek the Lord, be encouraged by the extent of His plan for you and all creation, be surprised by how God's Spirit will transform you, and thankful when it does. And you will be surprised when the Holy Spirit prompts you to look up your questions that arise. Biblical references are included to help. But be assured, the most important impact will be your overwhelming appreciation for God's great mercy and love, a thankfulness that comes directly from the Lord Himself! Some poems are free verse, but most rhyme for easy memorization, except when the cryptic style of some break or compromise their natural rhythm. This is not just "poetic license," but to cause you to slow down and consider personal relevance and application. The cryptic style purposely contains some ambiguity-sort of like impressionistic art that needs the viewer's interpretation-capturing the mystery of Scripture. Some poems include biblical explanation. The story of Jonah shows how God uses even the reluctant to assure his plan of salvation, I AM WHO I AM indicates God's loving provisions shown through his revered names, while Romans 8 sums up God's plan to counter sin and provide salvation for mankind and creation. Two poems are from personal experiences of biblical content, Exorcism and My Dream's Healing Answer. Take your time reading these poems, only one or two a day to consider their significance. They are presented in the order I was inspired to write them, so use the index to zero in on particular interests. I have noticed a thread of continuity in their order. See if you do too. Enjoy! L.J. Like most people in the world, 2020 finds me in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. Inspired by the Word of God and how God has something to say about every situation, I began to write seventy-five poems. It was February when the Holy Spirit prompted me to write God's Word in poetry, and needless to say, 2020 did not find me with nothing to do while in the house, wanting to follow the rules. I have been saved, born again, for thirty-two years. I am a native-born Philadelphian and attend the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. I love serving the Lord and serving people (i.e. Helping Hand Rescue Mission, women in prison, ushering, and more). My life verse is Matthew 5:16: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." While reading the first five verses in Joel 1, Wanda began to write. Nothing like This Has Ever Happened Before God gave a message to the prophet to say "listen," everyone See what's happening all around while you are still having fun It came upon the land quickly with a mighty and destructive force Tell your children, everyone, everywhere has been thrown off course Not in our time or your parent's time have we ever seen this before We ask when will it end, how long can it go on each day more and more Everyone, wake up including those who partied too hard and went to sleep Cry out and mourn, like it or not, you're on the wagon, now it is time to weep The virus will attack you no matter who you are, red, brown, black, or white Take heed and realize the seriousness of the situation, we can't win this fight All are closed, restaurants, gyms, malls, nail salons, barber shops, no relief And with virtual doctor's appointments, we pray nothing happens to our teeth We must seek to sense God's purpose for what is happening in the world today Only the Holy Spirit can help us to know what we should do before it all slips away

I was a student of the Bible from an early age. I was always fascinated by the stories from both the Old and New Testaments and always tried to apply the lessons learned to my own life. After spending years as a Sunday School Teacher, the Bible stories have stayed with me. I read the Bible every day; it has helped me enormously over the years. I am not ashamed to admit, that I prayed to God each time to send me a wonderful wife. I was never disappointed and will continue to communicate with Him on a regular basis. The inspiration for the poetry comes from many sources. A thought while driving or a thought that comes while watching something on television. In one case it was an incident that inspired me. I will on occasion place at the bottom of the poem, what it was that inspired the poem. This book of poems will be in three sections. - Poems of inspiration from my faith whatever the source - Poems from Bible references or from Bible Stories - Poems from my own personal life. Those produced from my own experiences that lifted me from my pit of despair or helped me to understand better God's love and inspiration
