Though faced with many trying, surprising, and some terrifying challenges during the following month, his only tools for the entire experience are a naieve sense of indestructible confidence, determination, and a trust that when the time came, he would be given whatever help was needed. It was an adventure few had taken back then, and one that probably even fewer are likely to experience today, given the circumstances. Doctrine and Covenant Gems is a book organized primarily to facilitate a reader’s ease in identifying and enjoying the sacred and remarkable revelations recorded in the book Doctrine and Covenants, which the prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. received during the restoration of the Gospel and Church of Jesus Christ during the early 1800’s. The text of The Pearl of Great Price Gems is itself identical to that of The Pearl of Great Price authorized and published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints The following introduction of The Pearl of Great Price Gems, and is taken from the more extensive and detailed introduction of the 1981 Church-authorized publication. The Pearl of Great Price Gems contains choice materials regarding many significant aspects of faith and doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
