But so many of them follow the same recipe: Jot down one boring statistic, then a space, then another boring statistic about something completely different. You may love that. I can't handle much of it. I need a little more content, a little more context. For example, instead of saying this: The world's tallest skyscraper can be found in Dubai. It's 2,700 feet tall. Yeah, okay. Good information, I guess. But what if I mixed it up with this: You actually age faster at the top of a skyscraper. The farther away you are from a large mass, such as the Earth, the faster time moves. If you lived your entire life at the top of the world's tallest building, you might age by an extra second or two. Now we're talking! I love the extra oddities in fun facts. That's what you get in every edition of Billy B. Good's Fun Facts and Trivia Snacks. The info you love, but presented in a much more interesting way. Good: I'm not a fan of trivia books that simply print hundreds (or thousands) of one-line facts, like: The deepest spot on the ocean floor is known as Challenger Deep, which is 36,307 feet below the ocean's surface. YAWN. But suppose I told you this: The first people to attempt to measure this giant hole in the ocean, back in 1875, used a weighted rope that stretched down more than 26,000 feet. What? Who has a rope that's FIVE MILES LONG? See, that's much more interesting. So you will not get bland, one-line pieces of data with my books. I'd pass out from boredom putting them together, and I can only imagine how mind-numbing they are to read. I like the quick stories that go with the stuff labeled 'trivia.' Gives them substance. Provides some depth and texture. And just makes them more interesting. This book won't be for everyone. You may prefer endless lines of stats. Power to you. Lots of people enjoy those, and there are thousands to choose from. But if you enjoy a bit more, then look at it this way: Those books are just French fries; this book is an order of fries with multiple dipping sauces. (Maybe even a chocolate shake.)
