Die Fragestellung "Welche Methoden eignen sich dabei besonders gut?" wird im Laufe der Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema bearbeitet und weiter ausgeführt. Zu Beginn werden die Begrifflichkeiten erläutert, um dem Leser die Unterscheidung von Biografie und Biografiearbeit zu verdeutlichen. Im Anschluss daran werde ich auf die Anwendungsgebiete der Biografiearbeit eingehen. Im Bereich der vollstationären Kinder- und Jugendhilfe stellt die Biografiearbeit eine adäquate Methode dar, um Kinder und Jugendlichen, die von ihren Eltern getrennt leben, mit ihrer Vergangenheit zu konfrontieren, diese aufzuarbeiten und ihnen die Möglichkeit einzuräumen ihre Lebenssituation besser zu verstehen. Im nächsten Punkt wird die Relevanz der Biografiearbeit ausführlich erläutert. Dabei werden auch diverse Gründe angeführt, die Biografiearbeit rechtfertigen und begründen, warum Biografiearbeit gerade für diese Adressaten besonders geeignet ist. Mithilfe der Biografiearbeit können schwierige Themen angesprochen werden, Kindern und Jugendlichen wird die Chance gegeben mit fehlende Informationen umzugehen und damit wird ihnen eine Orientierung gegeben. Im Anschluss daran geht es um die Umsetzung der Biografiearbeit. Da sich die Methoden an den Bedürfnissen, dem Alter und Entwicklungsstand der Kinder und Jugendlichen orientieren sollten, habe ich eine Unterteilung vorgenommen: Biografiearbeit bei Kleinkindern bis zum 3. Lebensjahr, Kindergartenkinder, Grundschulkinder bis zum 11. Lebensjahr und schließlich in der Pubertät und Jugendzeit. Da es jedoch in der Literatur hinsichtlich des Beginns von Biografiearbeit unterschiedliche Meinungen gibt, habe ich eine kritische Würdigung angefügt, die sich mit den differenzierten Auffassungen der Wissenschaftler beschäftigt. Als nächstes geht es um die Rahmenbedingungen, die für eine erfolgreiche Durchführung der Biografiearbeit sprechen. Abschließend werden noch die Anforderungen, die an die Fachkräfte gestellt werden, erläutert. Abschließend werden im Fazit die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse zusammentragen und es wird einen Ausblick auf die Lücken, die in diesem Bereich noch vorhanden sind, gegeben.

The sociology of science is dominated today by relativists who boldly argue that the content of science is not influenced by evidence from the empirical world but is instead socially constructed in the laboratory. Making Science is the first serious critique by a sociologist of the social constructivist position. Stephen Cole begins by making a distinction between two kinds of knowledge: the core, which consists of those contributions that have passed the test of evaluation and are universally accepted as true and important, and the research frontier, which is composed of all work in progress that is still under evaluation. Of the thousands of scientific contributions made each year, only a handful end up in the core. What distinguishes those that are successful? Agreeing with the constructivists, Cole argues that there exists no set of rules that enables scientists to certify the validity of frontier knowledge. This knowledge is "underdetermined" by the evidence, and therefore social factors--such as professional characteristics and intellectual authority--can and do play a crucial role in its evaluation. But Cole parts company with the constructivists when he asserts that it is impossible to understand which frontier knowledge wins a place in the core without first considering the cognitive characteristics of the contributions. He concludes that although the focus of scientific research, the rate of advance, and indeed the everyday making of science are influenced by social variables and processes, the content of the core of science is constrained by nature. In Making Science, Cole shows how social variables and cognitive variables interact in the evaluation of frontier knowledge.

This book provides extensive information on pedophilia (sexual interest in the prepubescent body age), hebephilia (sexual interest in the early-pubescent body age) and sexual offenses against children, i.e., the various forms of child sexual abuse, including the use of child sexual abuse images, along with the current state of knowledge concerning offender groups. The book makes it clear that pedophilia or hebephilia do not inevitably lead to offenses against children – that there are those who keep their desires in their fantasies and do not act them out on the behavioral level. The World Health Organization classifies pedophilia as a mental disorder. It can be safely assumed that many pedophile men in a given community live their lives, unrecognized and adamant about hiding their sexual drives from society and from themselves, and who are genuinely motivated not to act upon their sexual fantasies. The numbers of exactly this particular group of pedophilically inclined non-offenders can be increased by preventive therapeutic measures. For this purpose, two treatment programs have been developed at the Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine at the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin (University Clinic) since the initiation of the Prevention Project Dunkelfeld in 2005 – First, the project involving adult participants (Berlin Dissexuality Therapy: BEDIT) and later, another for adolescents (BEDIT-A), who find themselves attracted to children. Both program manuals are completely integrated into this work, which reflects 15 years of assessment and treatment experience.
