Anna Karenina written by Leo Tolstoy and has been published by Lindhardt og Ringhof this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-07-07 with Fiction categories.

Many consider ‘Anna Karenina’ to be the greatest novel of all time. A profound and exhaustive exploration of Russian life and the human condition. Tolstoy creates one of the most complex heroines in literature as he details Anna falling a conscious victim to her own passion. The dramatic scope of the story, the memorable characters, and the wealth of emotions that Tolstoy displays render ‘Anna Karenina’ much more than a novel, but rather an unmissable chronicle of the human condition that transcends both space and time. A perfect delve into Russian literature for those who enjoyed Christy Lefteri’s ‘The Beekeeper of Aleppo’. Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) was a Russian author. His focus was novels, but he also wrote many short stories, alongside essays and plays in his later life. Deemed the master of realistic fiction, his novel ‘Anna Karenina’ (1875-77) is considered to be the greatest novel of all time. Some of his other notable works include ‘War and Peace' (1865-69), ‘The Kingdom of God is Within You’ (1894), and his final novel ‘Resurrection’ (1899). His frank examinations of the world around him are unmissable for fans of Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Anton Chekhov, and Virginia Woolf, who was openly inspired by Tolstoy’s ideas about social class.

From the winner of the Hugo, Nebula and World Fantasy Awards, the epic third volume of the Dandelion Dynasties series, named by Time as one of the Greatest Fantasy Books of All Time, continues. Princess Théra, once known as Empress Üna of Dara, yielded the throne to her younger brother in order to journey to Ukyu-Gondé to war with the Lyucu, and has crossed the impenetrable Wall of Storms with a fleet of ships and ten thousand people. Constantly facing adversity, she faces new challenges by doing the most interesting thing and not letting the past dictate the present. In Dara, the Lyucu leadership bristles with rivalries, as power and perspectives change between the remains of the Dandelion courts. Here, mothers and daughters, Empress and Pékyu alike, nurture the seeds of plans that will take years to bloom. As the conquerors and the conquered jockey for position in these new regimes, tradition gives way to new justifications for power. Ken Liu returns to the series that has helped bridge the great epics of our history from the Aeneid to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms into a series that is unsurpassed in its depth of scope and adventure. 'Beyond ambitious in scope... You are swept into a world of political intrigue, hopeless sieges and compelling characters. Liu seamlessly blends philosophy and politics with tense battles and compelling action... Sad, funny, poignant and addictive, this book will leave a lasting impression on the genre' SFX

Under the Earl Grey immigration scheme, 1848-1850, over 4000 Irish female orphans were selected from Irish Poor Law Unions, from all counties in Ireland during The Great Famine, to go to colonial New South Wales to become domestic servants and wives. Of these, some 200 Irish female teenagers went to the Bathurst Immigration Depot for employment in Bathurst and the Central West. This book contains biographical profiles of 185 of these paupers and contextual chapters of Bathurst, the Irish in Bathurst, chain migration, colonial hostility towards this group of migrants and colonial life for women. The book contains illustrations, maps, references and an index. It was researched by a historian and family historian.
