The second volume of piano music by Dmitri N. Smirnov (pen names Dmitri N. Smirnov and D. Smirnov-Sadovsky), a Russian and British composer. He was born in 1948. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory 1967-1972 under Nikolai Sidelnikov, Yuri Kholopov and Edison Denisov. He also studied privately with Philip Herschkowitz, a pupil of both Berg and Webern. In 1979 Smirnov was blacklisted as one of the Khrennikov's Seven at the "6th Congress of the Union of Soviet Composers" for unapproved participation in some festivals of Soviet music in the West. He was one of the founders of Russia's new ACM (Association for Contemporary Music), established in Moscow in 1990. Since 1991 he has been resident of England. The volume include his 6th Piano Sonata op. 157 (2008) entitled "Blake Sonata" and inspired by work of the great English poet and artist William Blake (1757-1827). The piece is dedicated to the daughter of the composer, a pianist Alissa Firsova, who premiered the Sonata and recorded it on CD "Russian migrs", Vivat 109.

Collected Stories written by Martin Green and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-04 with Fiction categories.

The stories in this volume are in three sections. "Retirement Stories" are about senior citizens, such as a retiree prompted by a college survey to examine his past ("Mr. Maple's Good Life"), a retiree prompted to think about human connections after a chance meeting with "The Lady from Australia" and a retiree who sees a chance for revenge when the ex-boss who fired him moves next door ("New Neighbors"). "Left-Over Stories" are those I couldn't fit into Volume I. These include a story telling you how to make "Money", worth the price of the book alone, and a trilogy continuing the story of the young man in "Being in Love" with "Getting Married" and "Struggling On" in the early married years. The third section has stories written just for fun, which I hope, will be fun to read. There's a ghost story, a vampire story, a love potion story, a magic ring story and more. In the last story, "Unfinished Business", a writer tries to outwit death.

Blake And Conflict written by S. Haggarty and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-11-28 with Literary Criticism categories.

Famously, Blake believed that 'without contraries' there could be no 'progression'. Conflict was integral to his artistic vision, and his style, but it had more to do with critical engagement than any urge to victory. The essays in this volume look at conflict as it marked Blake's thinking on politics, religion and the visual arts.
