In June of 2020, Black Lives Matter protests touched every corner of America. At that time, positive public opinion towards BLM reached a new heights, though support levels differed based on personal characteristics. In this study, I use data from Wave 68 of Pew Research Center's American Trends Panel, which was collected in June of 2020, during the peak of BLM protests, to examine the effects of ethnicity, party, and ideology on support for Black Lives Matter.. Additionally, I consider the relationship between these three characteristics and respondents' main source of political and election news. Finally, I test the moderating effect of news media consumption habits on the relationship between personal characteristics and support for BLM. I find that conservative media consumption moderates patterns of support for BLM. The implications of these findings on policy and research are considered within the context of an increasingly polarized political climate.
