Teji Grover’s prose has an elusive temperament, a transcendence that emerges from the echoes and images the narrative weaves. The many women in her fiction seem mythical creatures, who are smouldering with an ancient memory, in search of a paradise they were exiled from. Teji belongs to that tribe for whom an artist is essentially androgynous. As she strives to retrieve the primal woman in her fiction, a woman unencumbered by the civilizational constraints, the identity returns by a different route, creating a distinct discourse. Hindi, the language of her creative works, has an innate mythical character that has not yet yielded to the demands of rationality Meena Arora Nayak renders her fiction into English with an extraordinary deftness. This book, then, can also be read as an intimate conversation between the two languages. - Ashutosh Bhardwaj

have great pleasure in writing this foreword to Dr. Latane’s book on the Novels of William Boyd. The book is a significant contribution to Boyd criticism. It has discussed the early, the middle and the last phase of Boyd’s novels. In doing if the author has defined the totality of Boyd’s vision. Indeed every novel is a part of this totality and the totality is more than a mere sum of the novels. The reciprocal relationship between the part and the whole is the crux of novel-criticism and the book has given due justice to this aspect. Another important feature of the book is the analysis of the postmodernist element in Boyd’s novels. This critical framework can be used to analysis the postmodernist element in the contemporary Indian novel in English. Even going further it can be used to analyse the Postmodernist element in the contemporary Marathi novel. A thesis is really acknowledged when it become a source material for the future researchers and comparatives. Mr. Latane’s book has that potential. I heartily wish a good reception to the book. Late in her life, acclaimed novelist Elizabeth Delamere makes a request of her therapist, Doctor Newman: she asks him to oversee the publication of her last book after she dies. It is a memoir in which she reveals that she is Evelyn Dick, the notorious "torso murderer" acquitted on appeal of dismembering her husband, and convicted of killing her infant son. In 1958 she was paroled, and disappeared into the mists of history. In Blue Moon, James King draws on the historical case of Evelyn Dick, and imagines her life after her release from prison. It is a life in which she travels to Vancouver, renames herself, and settles into a position as sales clerk at Duthie Books on Robson. There she meets Ethel Wilson, begins therapy, and tries to understand the events that led to her imprisonment and current life. She also begins to write, and finds herself a successfully published author. But did she murder her husband? Is she guilty of neglect of her baby boy? Was her life as Hamilton’s most notorious prostitute her responsibility? With the help of Doctor Newman, she attempts to come to understand the violence in which she was involved, her sense of guilt, and the essential truth of her innocence.

Orhan Pamuk Secularism And Blasphemy written by Erdag Göknar and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-02-15 with Literary Criticism categories.

Orhan Pamuk, Secularism and Blasphemy is the first critical study of all of Pamuk’s novels, including the early untranslated work. In 2005 Orhan Pamuk was charged with "insulting Turkishness" under Article 301 of the Turkish penal code. Eighteen months later he was awarded the Nobel Prize. After decades of criticism for wielding a depoliticized pen, Pamuk was cast as a dissident through his trial, an event that underscored his transformation from national literateur to global author. By contextualizing Pamuk’s fiction into the Turkish tradition and by defining the literary and political intersections of his work, Orhan Pamuk, Secularism and Blasphemy rereads Pamuk's dissidence as a factor of the form of his novels. This is not a traditional study of literature, but a book that turns to literature to ask larger questions about recent transformations in Turkish history, identity, modernity, and collective memory. As a corrective to common misreadings of Pamuk’s work in its international reception, Orhan Pamuk, Secularism and Blasphemy applies various analytical lenses to the politics of the Turkish novel, including gender studies, cultural translation, historiography, and Islam. The book argues that modern literature that confronts representations of the nation-state, or devlet, with those of Ottoman, Islamic, and Sufi contexts, or din, constitute "secular blasphemies" that redefine the politics of the Turkish novel. Concluding with a meditation on conditions of "untranslatability" in Turkish literature, this study provides a comprehensive and critical analysis of Pamuk’s novels to date.
