In my first novel of the Omega Chronicles, "OMEGA - The Lost City of Altinova," the story failed to discuss the adventurer's first three years on the island until they discovered the mystery around so many different things that happened that couldn't be explained. In this book, Book 2 of the series, we discuss their first three years of abandonment. This novel written four years later is actually the prequel to Omega - The Lost City of Altinova.

The Whiddon family was of longstanding in the county of Devon with the Whiddons of Chagford being the most prominent of the family branches. Their story is told from their rise to national prominence, beginning in the 13th century, until their descent into obscurity, after the restoration of the English monarchy. Included in their story is a father and son who were dedicated Puritan ministers. The three intrepid naval heroes whose stories are included sailed from Plymouth to serve England as adventurers, privateers, traders and warriors. The Whiddon story in America began in 1635 when sixteen year old John Whiddon crossed the Atlantic and stepped onto Virginia soil. The story covers six hundred years and follows the Whiddon family through time and place to give a clear picture of The Whiddon Journey. Sufficient historical background is given to place the story in context.

In 1766 Gaspé became an outpost of the Jersey metropole; in 1886 the Channel island of Jersey abandoned the region, reducing Gaspé, on Quebec's Atlantic coast, to Canadian outport status. From Outpost to Outport provides a structural and theoretical examination of the economic relationship between Jersey and Gaspé, explaining the development of codfish as a staple which, under merchant capital, secured success for Jersey at the expense of underdevelopment in Gaspé.

Dad S Best Memories And Recollections written by Charles J. Humber and has been published by FriesenPress this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-01-19 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

DAD'S BEST MEMORIES AND RECOLLECTIONS is Chazzz Humber's epithaph casting a very long and sentimental shadow across North America and beyond. This 230-page volume is his granite monument, well-polished! It lavishly records 125 of his best memories over a life-span of nearly eighty years. The vignettes are serenaded with more than 400 illustrations. Those discovering this volume likely will find themselves wanting to record, in their own sunset years, their personal memories and recollections. And when they do, they are apt to recall what it was like to live in their fluctuating world dominated by a variety of personalities and cascading events. Mr. Humber vividly describes what it was like, in 1945, to travel in a 1930 Model A Ford from Toronto to Boston. With lively enthusiasm, he reports what it was like to live in post-World War II Boston, to cook a lobster for a former President of the United States or to sell a pair of elevator shoes to one of Hollywood's shortest celebrities or to shine the shoes of a Derby-hatted father of a future President of the United States. It is not a remarkable achievement to reflect, to recall or to have memories that are treasured. But to tell them with literary aplomb, to recall the events that happened nearly seventy-five years ago with utmost clarity is definitely an admirable achievement and should be cherished not only by the kin who follow Mr. Humber but by those who might like to imitate what he has monumentally achieved in Dad's Best Memories and Recollections.

The U.S. Mint's Fifty State Quarters Program-its most ambitious program to date-has been a huge popular success. When the final state quarters are released in 2008, many thousands of individuals will have collected one commemorative quarter for each state in the Union. But what can we learn about our country's history and culture from 12.50 worth of quarters? A Pocketful of History tells the intriguing story behind each state's quarter: how each state chose its quarter's design; what is important about the people, scenes, or themes depicted on the coin; and what the collection tells us about how we view ourselves and our heritage. A Pocketful of History will guide readers on a fascinating journey through America's rich history of change.
