Commissioning is coming of age. Savvy building owners have adopted commissioning as an effective way to improve the facility acquisition process. Green building initiatives have embraced commissioning as a way of assuring quality in the delivery of high-performance buildings. This long-established quality control process for building mechanical systems is emerging as a broader construction management tool improving nearly all aspects of a project. What exactly is this thing called commissioning? Principles of Building Commissioning answers this fundamental question with the first all-inclusive, practical guide to the application of the principles of commissioning. The book clarifies the underlying philosophy of commissioning: the why, what, when, and who of this process. Shaped by the ASHRAE Guideline 0 view of the world of commissioning, Building Commissioning: Maps out the territory of commissioning Outlines its defining characteristics Explains its flow of processes Demystifies its documentation Making the fundamentals of commissioning accessible to all parties—building owners and operators, architects and engineers, users and suppliers—who may be called upon to join the commissioning team for a particular project, Building Commissioning serves as the professional's road map to the commissioning process, from the predesign phase through occupancy.

This Special Issue gathers 14 original research papers to disseminate new data on phytochemicals from vegetables and fruits, which are recommended for their health-promoting properties. Epidemiological, toxicological and nutritional studies suggest an association between fruit and vegetable consumption and lower incidence of chronic diseases, such as coronary heart problems, cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease. In this Special Issue the following topics have been addressed: (i) the protective roles, antioxidant and others bioactivities such as genotoxic and antigenotoxic effects in the Drosophila melanogaster animal genetic model and pro-apoptotic capacities against cancer processes, including cytotoxicity and clastogenic DNA activity, using an in vitro human cancer model (HL-60 cell line, (ii), new sustainable approaches based on near-infrared spectroscopy to determine the quality, (iii) broad-scale metabolomic investigation for the development of functional food and, (iv) processing techniques that can modify the initial nutritional and antioxidant content of fruits, vegetables, and additives. In summary, the information in this Special Issue will be interesting for researchers in this field and the general public interested in the relationship between vegetables and health.

ONE OF THE OBSERVER'S 10 MUST-READ DEBUT NOVELISTS OF 2022 A GUARDIAN NOVEL OF THE YEAR 2022 SOHO HOUSE BREAKTHROUGH WRITER AWARD 2022 WINNER SHORTLISTED FOR THE WRITERS' GUILD BEST FIRST NOVEL AWARD 2023 'A rare glimpse into the harsh realities of street life and love in luminous prose, rendered with sensitivity and without sentimentalism. An astonishing debut' Cherie Jones, author of HOW THE ONE-ARMED SISTER SWEEPS HER HOUSE Sayon Hughes, a young Black man from Bristol, dreams of a world far removed from the one in which he was raised. Far removed from the torn slips outside the bookie's, the burnt spoons and the crooked solutions his community embraces; most of all, removed from the Christianity of his uncaring parents and the prejudice of law-makers. Growing up, Sayon found respite from the chaos of his environment in the love and loyalty of his brother-in-arms, Cuba; in the example of his cousin Hakim, a man once known as the most infamous drug-dealer in their neighbourhood, now a proselytising Muslim; and in the tenderness of his girl, Shona, whose own sense of purpose galvanises Sayon's. In return, Sayon wants to give the people he loves the world: a house atop a grand hill in the most affluent area of the city, a home in which they can forever find joy and safety. But after an altercation in which a boy is killed, Sayon finds his loyalties torn and his dream of a better life in peril. MORE PRAISE FOR AN OLIVE GROVE IN ENDS: 'Announcing the arrival of a promising 23-year-old author whose work is wise beyond his years' GUARDIAN 'A remarkable debut, bristling with sharp prose and daring originality' Nathan Harris, author of THE SWEETNESS OF WATER 'A phenomenally good novel, tense and thrilling and complex, with breath-stealing moments on every page' Donal Ryan, author of THE SPINNING HEART 'This consummately crafted work can only be a harbinger of a stellar and truly significant career. I urge you to read it' Patrick McCabe, author of THE BUTCHER BOY 'Engrossing . . . A tough yet tender story of faith and friendship' OBSERVER

The Stream Of Everything written by John Connell and has been published by Gill & Macmillan Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-05-05 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

It's summer, and John Connell finds himself, like so many others, confined to his local area, the opportunity to freely travel and socialise cut short. His attention turns to the Camlin river – an ever-present source of life for his hometown's inhabitants and, for John, a site of boyhood adventure, first love, family history and local legend. He decides to canoe its course with a friend, a two-day trip requiring physical exertion and mental resilience. Despite the world growing still around them, the river teems with life – a symphony of buzzing mayfly and jumping trout. Meandering downstream, John muses on what's brought him here: his travels, his past relationships and his battle with depression, as well as on Irish folklore, geopolitics and philosophy. The Stream of Everything is both a reverie and a celebration of close observation: a winding, bucolic account of the summer we discovered home. 'Quietly triumphant.' Donal Ryan 'A contemplative, open-ended, ethically attuned pilgrimage.' Niamh Campbell 'A terrific book.' Michael Harding 'This is a sensitive, edifying, soul-nourishing book, celebratory, salutary and quietly triumphant. I loved reading it.' Donal Ryan 'A rich river journey, entrancing as all rivers are.' Bruce Pascoe 'Gentle, restorative, devotional, and strange.' Niamh Campbell 'A hugely satisfying read, full of imaginative wonders and absorbing philosophical musings.' Michael Harding 'In his joyful consideration of his native place, there is sweetness and ease ... A book very much of its strange and eye-opening time.' Belinda McKeon
