Taking Back Eden is a set of case studies of environmental lawsuits brought in eight countries around the world, including the U.S, beginning in the 1960s. The book conveys what is in fact a revolution in the field of law: ordinary citizens (and lawyers) using their standing as citizens in challenging corporate practices and government policies to change not just the way the environment is defended but the way that the public interest is recognized in law. Oliver Houck, a well-known environmental attorney, professor of law, and extraordinary storyteller, vividly depicts the places protected, as well as the litigants who pursued the cases, their strategies, and the judges and other government officials who ruled on them. This book will appeal to upperclass undergraduates, graduate students, and to all citizens interested in protecting the environment.

Sometimes a fellow just doesn't fit in, at least in the usual places. Sometimes he finds a sense of belonging elsewhere--on the edges of a pond, in a championship wrestling match, in a meandering stream. Sometimes it takes a thousand repetitions before "Something" connects. And then it does. Thoughts From the Author It was a strange experience to write about my own life. In trying to understand myself, I did not always posses perfect clarity. Although at times I felt silly writing about my own life I found that the best way to have conviction in my writing was to draw from my own experiences, thoughts, and faith. It was like looking into a deep pool and not being certain if the dark forms would ever emerge from the bottom to take my fly. In this book I have put forth heartfelt existential questions. Who am I? Where do I belong? Does God intervene? Where is Eden? Since I was a child first learning to fly cast I have wrestled with these questions and found relief from this existential anxiety in fly fishing. This is not a 'how to' book. I hope that this book encourages people to move past the stage of how many fish they catch or how big the fish are towards a deeper understanding of fly fishing as a meditative art that has the power to illuminate and inform our spiritual existences. To me, there is Something more, even if it always eludes me. There are longings for Eden, Love, and connection to Something I cannot name or describe but that forever haunts me and urges me onward. When I am on the river I am hardly ever just "fly fishing". This is not a spiritual self-help book. It may not help you to be happy or successful. However you might find some comfort in knowing there is someone out there who struggles with loneliness and a sense of belonging. I tried to capture my deepest thoughts and feelings while standing in a river or walking the banks of a pond. I often felt the paradox of being connected (sometimes to fish) and other times completely lost. At times I belonged and at other times I felt excluded. Yet, I keep walking the river. I keep casting my longings out onto the wind hoping for a response. And sometimes, I connect. I am humbled to share my life and thoughts with you as fly fisher and guide. Anthony Surage

The World Restored written by Jonathan Lever and has been published by Independently Published this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-10-09 with Nature categories.

This is a short write up - a concept document really - suggesting we perhaps re-think our association with nature - look at how we re plan cities for the future and save the future generations of children from this concrete jungle onslaught. This short write up is merely to serve as a prod for future planners, politicians, people in general to think about bringing in proper green corridors with wildlife, re-stocking the entire world with gigantic new numbers of wildlife again the way the world actually used to be before humans wrecked the wildlife numbers. Over the centuries humans have decimate wildlife numbers pretty much everywhere. This book suggests not only a worldwide flow of nature green corridors massively stocked with wildlife, but also highlights the treachery of current trophy hunting antics, visually at least - its really a short book to say lets try do better and that there are ways forward if we start using public funds properly instead of endless genocidal wars. The world was intended for humans to be in harmony with nature - so lets get back to that point. So this book I suppose could really be a long newspaper article -but those are here today, gone tomorrow - and I want this message to stay, so thus I'm putting it into a more permanent format. Its short, and to the point.

The Garden of Eden initially provided an atmosphere where man and woman walked in harmony with God, but then, something went wrong. In The Eden Project, Brandon Reed highlights how this wrong is ever invading the minds of the younger generation and continually evading the detection of the church. He reveals, from four years of firsthand experience at a Division I University, how a concoction of alcohol, drugs, sex, and ignorance is what drives the relativistic mindset that is flooding society today. And he then proposes how the church, the community, and the Christian can work together to reset the mind, heart, and soul on Jesus Christ and His saving work through the Cross in a fresh way.

As tourism service standards become more homogeneous, travel destinations worldwide are conforming yet still trying to maintain, or even increase, their distinctiveness. Based on more than two years of fieldwork in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Arusha, Tanzania, this book offers an in-depth investigation of the local-to-global dynamics of contemporary tourism. Each destination offers examples that illustrate how tour guide narratives and practices are informed by widely circulating imaginaries of the past as well as personal imaginings of the future.
