SE recogen en este volumen las actas del Congreso Internacional «Compromisos y palabras bajo el franquismo. Recordando a Blas de Otero (1979-2009)», celebrado en Granada entre los días 27 y 29 de enero de 2010. El trigésimo aniversario de su fallecimiento se presentaba como el oportuno pretexto para promover, con la debida distancia temporal, un ponderado ejercicio crítico de evaluación de las formas y sentido de la poesía oteriana, y en especial de su contribución al afianzamiento de una vigorosa escritura de testimonio y denuncia. El libro se organiza en función de los ejes temáticos que atravesaron el Congreso: las diversas épocas y vertientes del compromiso oteriano, tanto las de los años cincuenta y primeros sesenta («Blas de Otero con la inmensa mayoría») como las de su producción final («Con los ojos abiertos: últimos compromisos de Blas de Otero»); las premisas ideológicas y las manifestaciones más emblemáticas de la cultura de la oposición durante la dictadura («Escribiendo en diagonal: disidencia/resistencia bajo el franquismo»); la continuación de la poesía crítica en las generaciones siguientes a la de Otero («Los hijos de Blas de Otero: la poesía crítica en los años sesenta») y la impregnación oteriana de las últimas poéticas del compromiso («En pie de paz: la estela de Blas de Otero»); la problemática de la difusión de la poesía social y la búsqueda de canales alternativos a la página impresa («Imprimiendo en el aire: la poesía social y sus cauces de difusión»); o el recuerdo más humano del poeta («Cuánto Blas en la memoria»). Las aportaciones de más de una veintena de especialistas en diferentes ámbitos y disciplinas nos brindan nuevas interpretaciones críticas sobre una palabra, la de Blas de Otero, que apostó al rojo vivo por el compromiso de la paz.
