Fundada por Tomaz Kim, José Blanc de Portugal e Ruy Cinatti, a revista 'Cadernos de Poesia' teve publicação intermitente, em três séries e quinze números, nos anos 1940-42, 1951 e 1952-53, revelando alguns dos poetas portugueses mais marcantes da segunda metade do século XX - além dos fundadores, Jorge de Sena, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen e Eugénio de Andrade. Se a primeira série, com o famoso lema 'A Poesia é só uma!', contribuiu para a superação da querela travada por presencistas e neo-realistas, as séries seguintes, numa altura em que o clima da Guerra Fria recolocava o problema moral da responsabilidade do artista, legaram-nos a compreensão viva da criação poética como 'compromisso firmado entre um ser humano e o seu tempo, entre uma personalidade e uma consciência sensível do mundo', sem prejuízo da dignidade estética como condição da vitalidade da poesia. Esta ideia fundamental, então pouco evidente, teve fortes influências, nem sempre reconhecidas, nos poetas da época. Mas também e sobretudo nas gerações futuras, o que sem dúvida confere a esta edição ‘fac-simile’ um interesse acrescido, além do documental, para o público do nosso tempo.
