This guide, Volume 2 of a two-volume series, supplements Volume 1, which provides identification procedures for small arms cartridges of 15-mm caliber and below. Volume 2 is designed to assist the reader in identifying military cartridges in calibers from 20 mm to 40 mm as to cartridge designation, country, and weapon(s) for which the cartridges are intended. Like Volume 1, it provides persons without a technical background in ammunition basic information on cartridge types, construction, and terminology, as well as more detailed identification data on each cartridge. Additional information on these cartridges can be found in various exploitation reports on individual rounds. A consolidated listing of these exploitation reports is provided in the appendix; future editions of this volume will include pertinent data from exploitation reports of 20- to 40-mm cartridges. Coverage of this volume is limited to cartridges in the 20- to 40-mm caliber range made since 1930 and designed for military use; this excludes shotgun cartridges, riot-control cartridges, and signal cartridges, and, with few exceptions, subcaliber cartridges. Also excluded, because of their age and limited use, are several types of 26-mm cartridges developed during World War II by Germany for use in the 26-mm Kampfpistole, a rifled weapon that was developed from the signal pistol. (KAR) p. 8.

A Comprehensive Guide To Rifle Ammunition Vol 1 Of 2 written by Paul F. Kisak and has been published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-02-15 with categories.

Rifle Ammunition (commonly shortened to ammo) is propellant and projectile, or broadly anything that can be used in combat and fired from a rifled firearm. The purpose of ammunition is to project force against a selected target. However, the nature of ammunition use also includes delivery or combat supporting munitions such as pyrotechnic or incendiary compounds. Since the design of the cartridge, the meaning has been transferred to the assembly of a projectile and its propellant in a single package. Ammunition involves the application of fire to targets, general use of weapons by personnel, explosives and propellants, cartridge systems, high explosive projectiles (HE), warheads, shaped charge forms of attack on armour and aircraft, carrier projectiles, fuzes, mortar ammunition, small arms ammunition, grenades, mines, pyrotechnics, improved conventional munitions, and terminally guided munition. A "round" is a term synonymous with a single cartridge containing a projectile, propellant, primer and casing. This book focuses on the rifle cartridge, its history, dimensions, construction, assembly and use. This volume 1 focuses on 132 rounds under 39 caliber. You can purchase volume 2 which discusses 150 Cartridges larger than 50cal. Including Metric Cartridges at https: //www.createspace.com/ 6098527.
