Caminante – Wanderer is the story of loss and the struggle to recuperate that which is lost. We all make our own way in this world, and, as the poet Antonio Machado pointed out, the path is one we make as we travel. There is no specific way to make that journey, no guidebook. Each of us has our own struggles. Caminante – Wanderer is the story, in verse, of a journey. The book is divided into five sections. The first is Awakening, when the author felt the desire to try and recapture the native language that she felt she had lost. The second one is Sleeplessness, as she wondered how to go about it, followed by Memory, returning to her native country and language. Rescue deals with emerging solution to the dilemma, and finally, Forgetting, as once the conflict was resolved, it was forgotten.

Poetry. Like the traveler of its title, CAMINANTE goes out into the world, stimulating our curiosity and empathy. Written during Simon's nine-month sojourn through Latin America in the mid-nineties, each of its 131 octaves is a jewel in its own right, a moment and idea that resonates with distinctive tones. But each octave follows from the one before, and leads to the one after, and each is accompanied by a brief comentario that compliments it with history and local gossip. Though Simon writes primarily in English, his language embraces the unusual rhythms and nuances of a bilingual mind. John Oliver Simon is the author of numerous books of poetry in English and Spanish, including Son Caminos and Lord of the House of Dawn.

Lobela is the first volume of poetry written by Justo Bolekia Boleka, poet, author, and linguist. In these poems, Boleka expresses his connection to his native land, Equatorial Guinea, the only nation in Sub-Saharan Africa whose language of colonization is Spanish. Gods, goddesses, adoration of elders, customs, longing for a lost land, and lost way of life are all part of these poetic expressions. Originally in Spanish, replete with songs, expressions, chants, and cadences from his native Bubi language, English readers will now have access to these expressions in this bi-lingual edition.

Latin American Novels Of The Conquest written by Kimberle S. López and has been published by University of Missouri Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with Literary Criticism categories.

"The fictionalized explorers and conquistadors represented in this corpus all identify with certain aspects of Amerindian culture - significantly, those elements that are most distinct from European culture, such as cannibalism and human sacrifice - but also feel the need to distance themselves from these "others" in order to protect their own European cultural identity. In most cases, the conquistadors themselves are represented as outsiders within the enterprise of imperialism, due to ethnic, religious, or sexual differences from the norm. This representation turns the gaze inward toward the "other" within European culture, underscoring the complex origins of Latin American cultures in the violent encounter between the Amerindians and the conquistadors." "By examining these issues, Lopez's Latin American Novels of the Conquest illuminates the ways in which Latin American novelists used their literary imaginations to embody their ambivalence regarding their own transcultural heritage as children of both the colonized and the colonizer."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
