Revenge or forgiveness? The negotiation of peace with the FARC guerrillas resulted in the end of one of the longest and most violent armed conflicts in the recent history of Colombia. However, it also revealed a society that is highly polarized and, therefore, urged for reconciliation, that goes beyond the victims of the conflict and the ex-combatants. To face this central challenge of the post-conflict it is necessary to reflect on the dilemma between revenge and forgiveness. Revenge is deeply linked to the emotions of anger and resentment, it has to do with the impulse to retaliate in the face of justice. On the other hand, the pardon is a decision of the victim that allows to overcome the damage generated by an aggression, giving the possibility of resignifying the aggressor, until being able to see it, even, with compassion. This publication gathers the voices of fourteen actors from different disciplines, life experiences and worldviews, who reflect on the question: revenge or forgiveness?
