Fear Anger And Failure written by William Pfaff and has been published by Algora Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with History categories.

After September 11, 2001, it was easy to forget the economic uncertainties of the preceding summer, the obvious flaws in the presidential election of 2000 and other brewing problems. But the weaknesses are still with us, and a crack-down on liberties may not be the best answer. Pfaff's columns provide insights into the shifting international dynamics and the reasons why Europeans -- and many Americans -- distrust what appears to be a newly aggressive American imperialism. He also discusses N.A.T.O. and other institutions that we have relied upon to help craft a peaceful and cooperative future. Fear, Anger and Failure is a critical account of the war on terror and the events and forces influencing it or provoked by it, composed of newspaper columns dating from the afternoon of September 11, 2001 and ending in late December, 2003. These articles discuss American policy and personalities, as well as the dramatic change the Bush administration's conduct has produced in Washington's relations with its European allies. The Israeli-Palestinian struggle, crucial to American interests in the Middle East, was necessarily a part of these dynamics. The defeat in Baghdad was implicitly acknowledged by President George W. Bush when he announced on November 14, 2003 that the process by which American Occupation authorities in Iraq would hand power over to Iraqi authorities would be accelerated, with a target date of June 2004. The dream of Mr. Bush and his advisers was that a dramatic democratic transformation of Iraq could be accomplished, provoking quasi-revolutionary political change elsewhere in the Arab-Moslem world, accelerating modernizing forces in Islamic society as a whole. Even before the capture of Saddam Hussein failed to improve the situation, this policy was proven to be what its critics had always said it was: a naïve, sentimental, a-historical and utopian illusion.

Incorporating brief therapy with an innovative “boot camp” approach to help clients overcome three of the most prevalent issues in therapy. In some cases long-term therapy that seeks to assess a client’s history and gain insight over the course of many sessions isn’t always possible. Immediate behavior change and concrete steps to fix the problem at hand are sometimes more practical and desirable. Grounded in a results-oriented brief therapy model, this user-friendly guide presents the author’s “boot camp” approach—focusing on a client’s immediate behavior, helping them to do things differently, take action, concentrate on process, and use targeted goals and homework to jump-start and motivate them into taking risks and breaking patterns. Following this approach, Taibbi walks readers through session-by-session treatment “maps” for achieving solutions to three of the most common issues in therapy.

The Camp written by Colman Hogan and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-02-03 with Political Science categories.

The camp is nothing if not diverse: in kind, scope, and particularity; in sociological and juridical configuration; in texture, iconography, and political import. Adjectives of camp specificity embrace a spectrum from extermination and concentration, to detention, migration, deportation, and refugee camps. And while the geographic range covered by contributors is hardly global, it is broad: Chile, Rwanda, Canada, the US, Central Europe, Morocco, Algeria, South Africa, France and Spain. And yet—is to so characterize the camp to run the risk of diffusing what in origin is a concentration into a paratactical series of “identity particularisms”? While The Camp does not seek to antithetically promulgate a universalist vision, it does aim to explore the imbrication of the particular and the universal, to analyze the structure of a camp or camps, and to call attention the role of the listener in the construction of the testimony. For, by naming what cannot be said, is not every narrative of internment and exclusion a potential site of agency, articulating the inner splitting of language that Giorgio Agamben defines as the locus of testimony: “to bear witness is to place oneself in one’s own language in the position of those who have lost it, to establish oneself in a living language as if it were dead, or in a dead language as if it were living.”
