Cape Cod, Massachusetts is, roughly, a 70-mile peninsula divided into 15 towns. It is one of the furthermost points of land in the eastern US, with its hooked arm jutting out 40 miles into the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the towns date back to the 1600s, and each has its own unique personality, history, and gastronomic adventure. Over the past several years, Cape Cod’s culinary landscape has evolved. Yes, there are still the delicious fried clams, fresh broiled or grilled fish, and lobster rolls that have always been favorites, but many of today’s chefs are reinventing these traditional foods with a slightly different twist. The huge resurgence and interest in organic and local farming in many parts of our country has also reached the Cape, and chefs here are connecting with farmers and growers and using many of their products. Today’s Cape presents a thriving and unique culinary landscape and Cape Cod Chef’s Table gives readers, locals, and visitors a new perspective on this culinary scene. With recipes for the home cook from the Cape’s celebrated eateries and purveyors along with beautiful full-color photos, Cape Cod Chef's Table is the ultimate gift and keepsake cookbook.

Joseph Crosby Lincoln (February 13, 1870 - March 10, 1944) was an American author of novels, poems, and short stories, many set in a fictionalized Cape Cod. Lincoln's work frequently appeared in popular magazines such as the Saturday Evening Post and The Delineator. Lincoln was aware of contemporary naturalist writers, such as Frank Norris and Theodore Dreiser, who used American literature to plumb the depths of human nature, but he rejected this literary exercise. Lincoln claimed that he was satisfied "spinning yarns" that made readers feel good about themselves and their neighbors. Two of his stories have been adapted to film. Lincoln was born in Brewster, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, and his mother moved the family to Chelsea, Massachusetts, a manufacturing city outside Boston, after the death of his father. Lincoln's literary career celebrating "old Cape Cod" can partly be seen as an attempt to return to an Eden from which he had been driven by family tragedy. His literary portrayal of Cape Cod can also be understood as a pre-modern haven occupied by individuals of old Yankee stock which was offered to readers as an antidote to an America that was undergoing rapid modernization, urbanization, immigration, and industrialization. Lincoln was a Republican and a Universalist. Upon becoming successful, Lincoln spent his winters in northern New Jersey, near the center of the publishing world in Manhattan, but summered in Chatham, Massachusetts. In Chatham, he lived in a shingle-style house named "Crosstrees" that was located on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Lincoln died in 1944, at the age of 73, in Winter Park, Florida.

This book are eleven short stories and was also published under the title of "The Old Home House" Lincoln claimed that he was satisfied "spinning yarns" that made readers feel good about themselves and their neighbors. Two of his stories have been adapted to film. Lincoln's literary career celebrating "old Cape Cod" can partly be seen as an attempt to return to an Eden from which he had been driven by family tragedy. His literary portrayal of Cape Cod can also be understood as a pre-modern haven occupied by individuals of old Yankee stock which was offered to readers as an antidote to an America that was undergoing rapid modernization, urbanization, immigration, and industrialization Joseph C. Lincoln's stories echo back to a time of whaling, fishing, snowy Cape Cod Christmas', friends, warm summer days on the beach, sailing, and working the cranberry bogs. It is quintessential Americana, with a twist of adventure, drama, and sometimes mystery wrapped up in a flavorful, Jimmy Buffet-esque atmosphere of life on old Cape Cod.
