Ao me preparar para a comemoração dos 30 anos dos PMs de Cristo em 2022, tenho a honra de prefaciar esta importante obra que registra um sonho que se tornou realidade: a implantação da capelania voluntária em toda a Polícia Militar de SP. Um projeto inovador, de baixo custo e alto impacto, não só para a saúde mental dos nossos policiais, mas para o fortalecimento dos três pilares da Corporação: gestão pela qualidade, direitos humanos e polícia comunitária. O autor, que é Coronel, pastor e capelão, Carlos Lamin, meu especial amigo, com certeza foi inspirado por Deus para se dedicar a esta obra num momento tão desafiador da história. Ele se tornou uma das principais autoridades do tema capelania policial dentro dos PMs de Cristo, não só pelo seu amplo conhecimento teórico, mas pela prática exercida com maestria, há muitos anos na coordenação da capelania voluntária na região de São José do Rio Preto (CPI-5), bem como por ter já exercido a vice-presidência de tal Associação. Destaca-se também pelo comprometimento com a oração pela polícia, mantendo campanha permanente há mais de quatro anos, a qual mobiliza capelães e igrejas da região e de todo o país. É importante lembrar aqui o que antecedeu com esse trabalho. Em 2012, houve o lançamento do livro A polícia e a igreja — Uma parceria para o desenvolvimento da comunidade e o combate à violência, da Editora UDF, de autoria do Coronel PM Evandro Teixeira Alves, nosso irmão em Cristo. Pioneira no tema e contendo pesquisa inédita no campo da polícia comunitária, a obra representou um marco na história da segurança pública no Brasil, trazendo aspectos teóricos e possibilidades práticas para o relacionamento polícia e igreja, visando ao bem comum e ao interesse público. Agora, em 2021, quase 10 anos depois, temos o privilégio de anunciar o lançamento da obra Projeto polícia e igreja — Manual para a implantação da capelania voluntária, fruto da parceria abençoada entre Ministérios Pão Diário, PMs de Cristo e o autor, Coronel Lamin. Em continuidade ao esforço de tornar realidade as possibilidades teóricas da primeira obra, este trabalho documenta o processo prático de implantação institucional da capelania voluntária na Polícia Militar de São Paulo, por meio da associação PMs de Cristo e igrejas parceiras. Aqui descreve-se o caminho percorrido desde o início do lançamento oficial, em 2015, bem como a mobilização de igrejas, treinamento e acompanhamento dos voluntários, e os resultados alcançados até agora, incluindo pesquisas que indicam 95% de aprovação da tropa e outras pesquisas de mestrado e doutorado profissional sobre o tema. A obra ressalta o valor do capelão como figura imprescindível e complementar ao sistema de saúde mental da corporação, atuando como facilitador na linha de frente e de forma integrada aos demais profissionais, como psicólogos, psiquiatras, assistentes sociais e comandantes. Semelhantemente, revela o potencial comunitário que há por trás de cada capelão, mobilizando sua igreja para cooperar, orar e ajudar não só nos serviços internos da capelania, mas em outras ações de caráter comunitário, como mediação de conflitos, participação nos CONSEGs — Conselhos Comunitários de Segurança, vizinhança solidária, campanhas educativas e de oração pela polícia e pela paz social.
