Prior to the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, it was estimated that there were well over one million people in the USA who were full-time nomads. In the aftermath of the pandemic, that number is almost certain to increase. There are many resources online and in print dedicated to tips about the logistical and financial aspects of the nomadic lifestyle. However, there is very little information out there about the most important element of successful nomading: maintaining good mental health. Along my travels, I've met many fellow nomads who struggle with the unique stresses of a mobile lifestyle. And they have found it difficult to get help - or even find someone to talk to, who understands the problems they are dealing with. So I've put together this quick and easy guide, sharing tips and lessons I've learned over several years of full-time nomading. Simple but very effective things that have been a huge help to me and others.Whether the reader is just getting started, or a seasoned "rubber tramp", the goal of this guide is to help people address the psychological challenges they will encounter.

A reclusive designer living in a custom tiny house in the middle of the Montana wilderness. A couple who traded their expensive Bay Area apartment for a slip at a nearby marina, where they live on a docked sailboat. A family of five who decided to simplify their lives by moving into a school bus, selling most of their possessions in the process. Nomad features their stories, and many more. From vanlifers to boondockers, liveaboards to tiny-house dwellers, these freedom seekers have forged a new way of life for themselves—one that values experiences over things, is environmentally conscious, and is often more budget-friendly than their “rooted” lives ever were. The ubiquity of the internet has ushered in a new era of connectivity that makes working from an Airstream beside a roaring river or running a photography business from a mountaintop a reality. It’s now possible to do whatever you want from wherever you want and still have a foothold in the world. This book shows you how, with tours of 26 unconventional homes and the people who live in them, plus all the information you need to make your own off-the-grid dream a reality. There are chapters on bathroom and storage—two of the most challenging aspects of this lifestyle—plus a comprehensive guide to finding the right home, assessing the cost of renovation, handy products for small spaces, and indispensable resources (including sources for replacement RV parts, portable power solutions, tiny wood stoves, and much more).

Exploring behaviour through bones has always been a fascinating topic to those that study human remains. Human bodies record and store vast amounts of information about the way we move, where we live, and our experiences of health and socioeconomic circumstances. We see it every day, and experience it, but when it comes to past populations, understanding behaviour is largely mediated by our ability to read it in bones. Behaviour in Our Bones: How Human Behaviour Influences Skeletal Morphology examines how human physical and cultural actions and interactions can be read through careful analyses of skeletal human remains. This book synthesises the latest research on reconstructing behaviour in the past. Each chapter is dedicated to a specific region of the human body, guiding the reader from head to toe and highlighting how evidence found on the skull, shoulder, thorax, spine, pelvis, and the upper and lower limbs has been used to infer patterns of activity and other behaviour. Chapter authors expertly summarise and critically discuss a range of methodological, theoretical, and interpretive approaches used to read skeletal remains and interpret a wide variety of behaviours, including tool use, locomotion, reproduction, health, pathology, and beyond. Serves as a comprehensive resource for readers who are new to human skeletal behaviour investigations Offers an overview on how behaviour may impact the entire skeleton (from head to toe) Discusses activities that can leave evidence on the human skeleton and how behaviour can become incorporated in bone Introduces methods that biological anthropologists use to quantify and interpret skeletal evidence for behaviour and its range of morphological variation Critically examines the current state of skeletal behaviour research and provides recommendations for future work in this field

Interwoven Nature written by John Danvers and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-12-20 with categories.

Interwoven Nature is an unusual, lively and provocative reflection on human identity within nature - a philosophical and poetic meditation on our being-in-the-world. It is argued that if we fully realise our porous interwoven nature, we will not feel and behave like beings separate from, and in conflict with, the natural world. Danvers writes eloquently about the interrelatedness of everything within a universe of endless change, and about how we locate ourselves in, and navigate ways through, this fluid relational world - a world full of surprises, dangers, challenges and delights. With a text complemented by photographs and drawings by the author, the book weaves together two voices: an old man looking back on his long life; and a young man thinking analytically about the future. Drawing on ideas from Buddhism, Daoism, ecology, science, art, poetry and philosophy, the two voices are used to suggest that the natural world is a site of grace and wonder - a place in which human beings can come to a realisation of who they are and how they are implicated in the world around them.

Christianity And The Art Of Wheelchair Maintenance written by Stephen Faller and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-08-08 with Philosophy categories.

After twenty years, Stephen Faller shares his journey into seminary and ordained ministry. This book reveals the story of how someone with a lifelong disability, cerebral palsy, might find his way into ministry as a hospital chaplain; there is a certain irony in that. While particular in its own right, this story will speak to anyone in college or graduate school studying one of the many disciplines hoping to make the world a better place. Through narrative and dialogue, Faller engages philosophers and theologians alike. This is an intimate text that seeks to integrate mind, body, and spirit that situates itself more beyond the margins than as marginalized. Just as Faller’s own narrative is contextualized by disability, this personal work is contextualized in our polarized and politicized culture, as it considers the meaning of ministry for a contemporary time. His is an embodied text that speaks to a multicultural society, even if that body carries brokenness and even if that society is divided.
