Multiple sclerosis (MS), the most common disabling neurologic disease of young people, afflicts approximately a quarter of a million Americans. The symptoms of MS result from recurrent attacks of inflammation in the central nervous system, which probably occur through an autoimmune mechanism. The target of the immune attack is myelin, the lipoprotein sheath that surrounds the axons and insulates them, and enhances nerve conduction. The white matter of the brain takes its name from the glistening white appearance of this lipid wrapping, which contains most of the pathways, tracts and axonal projections of the central nervous system. (The gray matter contains primarily the cell bodies of the neurons themselves.) Myelin is made by cells called oligodendrocytes and when it is inflamed and damaged, nerve conduction is disrupted and nerves thus lose function, thereby producing the neurologic symptoms of MS.The cause of MS is unknown and its pathophysiology remains poorly understood. Patients are not born with MS, but rather some environmental factor apparently acts on genetically susceptible individuals to produce the disease; but the nature of that factor (such as whether or not it is a virus) remains elusive. The best accepted explanation postulates that macrophages present myelin antigens to appropriate T-cells, thereby activating the T-cells to proliferate. They then cross the blood-brain barrier through interactions with intercellular adhesion molecules and once inside the central nervous system, they release cytokines that further damage myelin and that perpetuate the immune response. The details of this process, including the nature of the triggering antigen, are still subject to speculation but there is strong evidence that MS is a T-cell mediated autoimmune attack on the central nervous system. Concomitant with the myelin destruction, there is also damage to the underlying axon, which leads to further disability.Among the unanswered questions is whether MS is a single disease. It could be that different antigens are involved in different patients, different T-cells are activated, or the mechanisms of cell damage are different.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) can be a complicated and frustrating disease with unpredictable symptoms of varying intensity. Everything from fatigue and numbness to paralysis, vision loss, and diminished brain function can be experienced by victims of this disease. Multiple Sclerosis or MS is a serious autoimmune disease that impacts the central nervous system, which consists of the brain and the spinal cord. What causes MS is unknown, but research has shown that the immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord, which disrupts the signals to and from the brain.According to Healthline multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most widespread disabling neurological condition around the world. Aprox. 2.5 million people suffer from MS worldwide. The central nervous system controls everything we do and therefore MS causes unpredictable symptoms. Although there are treatment strategies that address some MS symptoms, there is no therapy yet that can slow down or stop progressive MS. CBD for MS treatment, however, has shown promising results in initial research programs.Adults between 20 and 40 are most likely to get the disease, according to Healthline and MS rates are higher farther from the equator.Sativex is one of the first cannabis-based medicines that followed the conventional clinical development and that was approved as a prescription medicine. It contains synthetic THC and CBD (cannabidiol) in a 1:1 ratio and is administered as a mouth spray (oromucosal). Anecdotal evidence suggests that this synthetic medicine does not work as well as the natural herbal compounds themselves.Other, recent studies on cannabidiol alone have shown that CBD benefits have very promising potential for down regulating and restoring of neurons in MS. This is backed up by recent clinical trials that show CBD has beneficial effects on multiple sclerosis.Cannabidiol (CBD) reduces the following symptoms of MS, besides the anti-neuroinflammatory, anti-neurodegeneration, and neurogenetic properties, that work directly on the disease: THC, one of the other cannabinoids in marijuana, has been investigated more extensively for its ability to ameliorate the most common MS symptoms. Together, the two cannabinoids are fairly established as a suitable treatment for MS-related spasticity, pain, and sleep problems. Well-designed clinical research specifically on CBD oil for multiple sclerosis remains limited.Yet thousands of MS patients cannot be wrong about CBD, and a quick online search reveals many ecstatic anecdotes regarding CBD oil's almost magical effectGet a copy of this book to have a good knowledge of Multiple Sclerosis, CBD Oil and How CBD Oil Can Help To Cure Multiple Sclerosis

Early in the disease course, Multiple Sclerosis involves recurrent bouts of Central Nervous System inflammation that results in damage to both the myelin sheath surrounding axons as well as the axons themselves. Histologic examination reveals foci of severe demyelination, decreased axonal and oligodendrocyte numbers, and glial scarring. The exact cause of inflammation remains unclear, but an autoimmune response directed against Central Nervous System antigens is suspected. In progressive Multiple Sclerosis, inflammation is a less defining pathological hallmark. Instead, progressive Multiple Sclerosis is characterized by neurodegeneration of the white and grey matter resulting in brain and spinal cord atrophy on a background of mild-moderate inflammation. Predominant factors driving neurodegeneration include mitochondrial dysfunction due to defective oxidative phosphorylation and nitric oxide production, resulting in a chronic state of virtual hypoxia due to unmet energy demands, and age-dependent iron accumulation in myelin and oligodendrocytes leading to oxidative tissue damage. Further research is needed to understand how these different pathologic subtypes affect prognosis and response to treatments. Currently, brain biopsy is the only method to definitively determine pathologic subtypes, but studies are underway to find blood, cerebrospinal fluid, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Biomarkers.Historically, Multiple Sclerosis was classified as an inflammatory disease targeting white matter, with diagnostics and therapeutics focused on this mechanism of pathology. However, more recent imaging and histopathological studies suggest that cortical demyelination plays a crucial role in Multiple Sclerosis pathogenesis and cognitive dysfunction. Cortical demyelination is now recognized in early Multiple Sclerosis. Although some investigative Magnetic Resonance Imaging modalities capture some cortical involvement, including double inversion recovery sequences at 3 Tesla and Ultra-high field Magnetic Resonance Imaging, conventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging metrics used in clinical practice do not show these changes well. Likewise, extensive cortical demyelination that is seen in histopathological studies is not clearly demonstrated on any current Magnetic Resonance Imaging Modality. This pathology/imaging discordance demonstrates that we are still technologically disadvantaged in accurately assessing cortical lesion pathology in the live patient. In the past, inflammation was thought to involve only demyelination, but pathologic studies have found significant axonal pathology as well. In actively demyelinating Multiple Sclerosis lesions, an average of more than 11,000 transected axons/mm3 was observed, while control brain tissue had less than one transected axon/mm. Significant axonal injury is also observed in cortical demyelinating lesions. Clearly, axonal injury is significant in the early stages of the disease.Later in the disease course, the gradual progression of disability is observed. However, there is significantly less active inflammation during this period, so clinical progression may arise instead from degenerative changes. Nonetheless, oligodendrocyte progenitor cells capable of remyelinating axons have been observed even in white matter plaques from patients with chronic Multiple Sclerosis. This observation suggests that the potential for remyelination persists even very late in the disease course, which is an encouraging indicator for possible therapeutic targets at this late stage of the disease.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) involves an immune-mediated process in which an abnormal response of the body's immune system is directed against the central nervous system (CNS). The CNS is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.Within the CNS, the immune system causes inflammation that damages myelin - the fatty substance that surrounds and insulates the nerve fibers - as well as the nerve fibers themselves, and the specialized cells that make myelin.Nearly 1 million people are living with MS in the United States, according to a study funded by the National MS Society. This is more than twice the original estimate and means solutions for MS are now twice as important.Researchers are beginning to explore the possible applications of cannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD) in Multiple sclerosis treatments to determine whether they may help prevent the development of the disease. This book gives an account of all you need to know about cbd oil and cancer as well as the treatment of Multiple sclerosis with cbd oil.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological disease, which means it affects your nerves. It's also an autoimmune disease. This means your body's defenses against disease malfunction and start attacking your own cells. With MS, your immune system attacks your body's myelin, which is a protective substance that covers your nerves. The unprotected nerves are damaged and can't function as they would with healthy myelin. The damage to the nerves produces a wide range of symptoms that vary in severity.

Multiple sclerosis is one of the most widespread and common neurological disorders. In many cases, young adults are diagnosed with it, leaving them battling the condition for the rest of their life. At the moment, around 400,000 people in America suffer from the condition, but this is just an estimate since many diagnoses aren't reported past the doctor's office since there are now requirements. It's common to overlook some of the earlier symptoms and signs of multiple sclerosis, also known as MS. It can also be difficult to diagnose as there are four different types of the condition. Here's a look at everything you could possibly need to know about MS, how it affects people, and what you can do if you or a friend are diagnosed with the condition.CBD is increasingly being used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Since it directly affects the endocannabinoid system of the body, it promotes an overall improvement in the physical and mental health. It is also very effective in treating the mental health disorders. There are different ways of using CBD for Multiple Sclerosis, so you may choose the method that best suits you. There are little or no side effects associated with the use of CBD for treating the immune-mediated disorder.
