"Journey on a path to profound well-being. Difficult and unpleasant emotions are a part of life, of the human condition, yet we are often taught and innately wired to push them away. This can negatively impact our mental health and cause us to disconnect from the one person we need the most -- ourself. Our "happiness culture" only complicates matters, reinforcing messages of needing to be happy and leaving us feeling "not good enough." In this groundbreaking book, Dr. Beth Kurland shows us a better way. Through her personal experiences and thirty years working with her clients, she reveals that instead of forcing yourself to be happy, or suppressing or getting hooked by intense emotions, you can learn to shift your vantage point. From the six vantage points she shares, you will learn to navigate difficult day-to-day emotions and discover that you don't need to fix yourself or change how you are feeling for profound change, wholeness, and well-being to emerge. Included are journaling prompts, practices, and meditations, as well as links to online resources, that will help you incorporate the tools from this book into your daily life." --
Vietnamese Language Education And Change In And Outside Vietnam

Vietnamese Language Education And Change In And Outside Vietnam written by Phan Le Ha and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-05-21 with Social Science categories.
This open access edited book attempts to break new ground in investigating multiple facets of Vietnamese language, education and change in global contexts, engaging with global Vietnam through complex lenses of language and education. Issues of language, globalization, and global identities have often been framed through the lens of hierarchical/binary power relations, and/or through a dichotomy between hyper-central languages, such as English, and revisualized or marginalized local language and cultures. In this book, this dichotomy is turned on its head by considering how Vietnam and Vietnamese are constructed in and outside Vietnam and enacted in global spaces of classrooms, textbooks, student mobility, community engagement, curriculum, and intercultural contacts. Vietnamese is among the world’s most spoken languages and is ranked in the top 20th in terms the number of speakers. Yet, at the same time, as a ‘peripheral’ or ‘southern’ global language as often seen in the Global North-Global South spectrum, the dynamics of multilingual and multicultural encounters involving Vietnamese generate distinctive dilemmas and tensions, as well as pointing to alternative ways of thinking about global phenomena from a fresh angle. Rather than being outside of the global, Vietnamese - like many other ‘non-central’ global languages - is present in diasporas, commercial, and transnational structures of higher education, schooling, and in the more conventional settings of primary and secondary school, in which visions of culture and language also evoke notions of heritage and tradition as well as bring to the fore deep seated ideological conflicts across time, space, communities, and generations. Relevant to students and scholars researching language, education, identity, multiculturalism, and their intersections, particularly related to Vietnam, but also in Southeast Asia and beyond, this volume is a pioneering investigation into overlooked contexts and languages from a global, southern-oriented perspective. "This book presents an eclectic collection of 15 chapters unified by an interest in developing and teaching the Vietnamese language. To my knowledge, there has been no previous attempt to make the national language of Vietnam a focus for as many perspectives as are documented in the book. In this regard, the book makes an original and intriguing contribution to the literature on Vietnamese culture, including the culture of Vietnam’s expanding diaspora. The book is pioneering in the extent to which it draws attention to the many roles played by a national language in a nation’s political, social and cultural development. It also documents the challenges of preserving a national language in settings where it is at risk of being marginalized. It is pleasing that so many of the contributing authors are young Vietnamese scholars who can provide a distinctly Vietnamese perspective on concepts and practices of global significance." - Dr. MartinHayden, Emeritus Professor of Higher Education, Southern Cross University, Australia "Vietnamese Language, Education and Change In and Outside Vietnam brings together an excellent collection of chapters that highlight the diverse and important but under-explored roles Vietnamese language plays in different settings within and outside Vietnam. The fifteen chapters of this much needed book provide unique insights into various aspects and meanings of Vietnamese language. Collectively, the volume contributes to broadening our view about the evolution and transformation of Vietnamese language under the impacts of local, national, regional and global forces. The book invites readers to engage in a reflective and intersectional approach to rethinking and re-examining our understandings of the changes and developments of Vietnamese language over the history of the country." - Dr Ly Tran, Professor, Centre for Research for Educational Impact (REDI), Deakin University, Australia, and Founder: Australia-Vietnam International Education Centre

Most students in training to become teachers, psychologists, physicians, and social workers as well as many practicing professionals in these disciplines do not get the opportunity to fully understand and appreciate the circumstances of children ,parents, and teachers who have had to cope and adapt to childhood disorder. Most professionals in the field of childhood disorders are well trained in assessment and treatment methods and are aware of the clinical, theoretical, and empirical foundations of the work they do. In their training, they get some experience in diagnosing the educational, psychological, social, and medical problems of children through their supervised clinical internships. In their training and in their professional practice they get to interview, discuss, consult and collaborate with children and their families regarding developmental issues and treatment plans, however, they rarely get an opportunity to fully realize and understand what it is like to have a disorder and what it is like to be a mother, or father, or teacher of children with disorders. This book provides an opportunity for students in training and professionals in the field to gain some awareness of the life journeys of some exceptional children, their families and their teachers. Focuses on those childhood disorders that are most common or what are sometimes referred to as high incidence disorders such as learning disabilities, autism, behavior disorder, depression, and anxiety Beyond, a clinical, empirical, and theoretical description of childhood disorders or a personal account relative to one particular disorder, this book provides rich narratives of experience from multiple perspectives with respect to numerous childhood disorders Provides readers with insight by sharing examples of personal contexts and situations, significant life issues, challenges and barriers, successes, and recommendations relative to particular circumstances

Changing Addiction Problems And Care Responses During And After A Major Crisis Emergence Of A New Normal written by John Strang and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-24 with Medical categories.
Despite its lifesaving role, addiction treatment and care are often among the first domains to lose resources when a crisis strikes. Across the world disruptions in addiction-related care during the Covid-19 pandemic, armed conflict, or radical political change have been documented. But what happens after the crisis is typically unknown. How do addiction-related problems change during a crisis, and what are the responses at individual and societal level? How do crises affect causes, prevalence, incidence, or severity of addiction in different regions and populations? Does the addiction care system permanently collapse or is the breakdown temporary and reversible? How does a crisis evolve and what happens to addiction care services and their beneficiaries over time? Is residual damage to addiction care services inevitable or can a crisis create opportunities for positive change at individual, organizational, and/or system level? Are harms and benefits (un)equally distributed among different addiction stakeholder groups? And finally, what does a ‘new normal’ look like in addiction and addiction care, and what (new) norms underpin it? These questions not only encompass the importance of such a topic, but also the implications on public health that are applicable worldwide that need to be addressed.
