Chemo Cat written by Cathy Nilon and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-10 with Breast categories.

Author and Illustrator Cathy Nilon has created the book that she wished had been available to share with her young son when she was first diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in the fall of 2004. There were no programs available for his age group; the family had no mental health coverage to help deal with the trauma. Cathy decided to write one, and began sketching while still bald. Chemo Cat is the account of the pain-filled journey of her family, told in the voice of her son Luca who was four years old at the time. This book hopes to bridge the gap for families with children as to how to deal with the news of this awful illness. Luca and Mama cat, aka Cat-Cat, personified as a family of cats, take you through the emotions and realities of that most difficult time. It is meant to open a dialog with children without adding to their fears. It explains the changes they can expect when their mother loses her hair and is sick from chemotherapy and can't be with them all the time. The story is real and all too common. It should prove also, to be emotionally helpful for the child and the whole family. The author's net proceeds will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

Cancer chemotherapy is an important new and growing area of veterinary medicine. Many practitioners are regularly using cytotoxic drugs for cancer therapy as diagnosis of the condition is relatively straightforward. However, the theory behind the use of these potent drugs is poorly understood and few practitioners have any training in this area. This book is the first to provide comprehensive coverage of the subject. Using text, notes and tabulated information it provides a highly practical guide to the correct treatment of tumours and the pharmacology behind the use of cytotoxic drugs. After considering the basic principles of tumour biology and the application of cytotoxic drugs, the book reviews the mode of action of the most frequently used groups of cytotoxic drugs. This is supported by comprehensive tables detailing specific agents, trade names, indications of dose rates and toxicity

Returning home, exhausted and empty-handed from a day trip to the Sacramento SPCA, she was leafing through her local paper, when her eye lit upon this ad: "ADULT MALE ROTTWEILER FREE TO A GOOD HOME." The last year had been a crummy one for her. She had to put down her last Rottweiler. She had undergone chemotherapy for breast cancer and had been missing the companionship of a Rottie. For the last twenty-five years, there had always been one in her life. A year had gone by since she had put the last one down, and at the same time finished her chemo treatments. This was not the kind of ad she saw everyday and she felt that this was a special message to her. "I will call first thing in the morning," she thought. This is the beginning of Quinn's story, a truly remarkable dog, who changed her life as much as she changed his. He became part of a new family and met many, many new people who became part of his life. He faced an enormous challenge through which he both taught and learned the meaning of love and trust. This story will appeal to anyone who has ever loved a dog.

A cancer survivor's guide to dealing with the treatments, emotions and new normal that comes after a shocking diagnosis. Bowel cancer, despite being the UK’s second biggest cancer killer, still receives a shockingly low level of awareness. This book aims to redress this by telling the story of a mother of two who embarked on a crash course dealing with advanced bowel cancer at the age of 45. Having absolutely no preparation, her lists help her gain control over what fast becomes an even more chaotic and unpredictable life. Her diagnosis presents a wake-up call to what’s important in life, and insists that daft and often funny things can still happen to people living with cancer. This is a memoir packed full of useful advice for making the best of your sudden situation – from learning how to deal with your new menagerie of medics to how to avoid all the usual cancer faux pas! As someone who describes herself as habitually “not doing today what I can put off till tomorrow”, Rachel shares with you all the lists you need to cope with gaining back some control from the chaos. This is the ultimate reader-friendly guide on how to deal with operation after operation, the reality of chemotherapy and, when that’s over, how to function on a daily basis with your ‘new normal’. But most importantly, it’s a record of how Rachel taught her children resilience, her number one challenge in life.
