The second part of the volume outlines clinical identification and consequences of chimerism. Chapters in this section focus on the effects of chimerism on testing in relationship determination and forensics, prenatal genetic testing and screening, and blood and HLA typing. This part also reviews new data concerning matching donors and recipients for transplantation, while outlining the risks of transplantation, such as graft-vs-host disease and passenger lymphocyte syndrome. Additionally, evidence on the role of chimerism in autoimmune disease and cancer is presented. Written by experts in the field, Chimerism: A Clinical Guide is a valuable resource for clinicians and researchers that will help guide patient management and stimulate investigative efforts.

A New Concept Of Microchimerism And Its Important Role In Autoimmune Diseases Cancer Wound Healing Etc written by Dr. Hakim Saboowala and has been published by Dr.Hakim Saboowala this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-05 with Medical categories.

A new concept of Microchimerism and its Important Role in Autoimmune diseases, Cancer, Wound healing, etc. Microchimerism is the presence of cells from one individual in another genetically distinct individual. Pregnancy is the main cause of natural microchimerism through transplacental bi-directional cell trafficking between mother and fetus. In addition to a variety of cell-free substances, it is now well-recognized that some cells are also exchanged in pregnancy. Furthermore, it is now known that microchimerism persists decades later both in mother and in her progeny. The consequences of pregnancy-related microchimerism are under active investigation. However, many researchers have suggested a close relationship linking fetal microchimerism and the development of autoimmune diseases. Fetal microchimerism is emerging as a potential contributing factor in certain diseases, including cancer. Parallel studies in animal and human pregnancy suggest that microchimeric fetal cells play a role in wound healing. An effort has been made in this Booklet to discuss the role of Fetal Microchimerism - a potential contributing factor in wound healing, certain diseases, including cancer etc. along with several relevant illustrations. …Dr. H.
