For millennia, the Jade Moon and the Ual-leen have fought in the murky underworld of the galaxy. Most people remain unaware of them, but their struggle spares no one-not even the innocent. Maya and Ihy raise Ianus, a young monk orphaned when he was two, in a Jade Moon monastery far away from the dangerous life in the underworld that killed his parents. Ianus comes to accept his adopted parents as his own flesh and blood. When he receives a vision of Ihy's murder, Ianus plunges deep into the underworld. With the help of his friends, he determines to face the people who murdered his birth parents. But Ianus fails to realize the Ual-leen's real goal-to steal an ancient and powerful relic. Now Ianus must save his dying father and recover the relic. Will he be able to navigate the underworld successfully, or will he fall victim to the murderer's plot? In a rush to save Ihy and his friends, Ianus must wrestle with far greater principles: do we have free will or are we slaves to our circumstances? More importantly, is it worth sacrificing life and freedom for order and security?

Heavy Metal: The Story in Pictures is a colorful guide to this complex but enormously popular subject, including a look at festivals, fans, and the heavy metal lifestyle. Over 350 photographs feature heavy metal's cutting-edge bands on stage—with some candid behind-the-scenes shots, too. Each chapter starts with a detailed chronological timeline of major events—band formations and fold-ups; seminal album releases; important tours and gigs—followed by a photographic coverage of the decade. Heavy metal developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s in the United Kingdom and the United States. With roots in blues, progressive, and psychedelic rock, heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness. It did not take long before the first heavy metal bands—the blues-based Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple being the leaders—attracted large audiences and significant album sales. Often critically and publicly reviled—something that is true to this day—few of these hard rock pioneers would continue on into the heavy metal genre. By the mid-1970s, Judas Priest helped spur the genre’s evolution by discarding much of its blues influence. Motörhead introduced a punk-rock sensibility and an increasing emphasis on speed. Bands such as Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and Saxon followed in a similar vein. Before the end of the 1970s, heavy metal had attracted a huge following of headbanging fans. Behind the music ran a vein of anti-authoritarianism and—more insinuated than real—Satanism and black magic that really got the pundits talking, as did the aggression and violence implied by so many band names and song titles. Heavy Metal: The Story in Pictureslooks carefully at the ancient history—the 1960s through to the start of the 1980s—but the bulk of the book concentrates on the last 30 years that saw the splintering of the genre into a myriad forms: from the great thrash metal bands—Exodus, Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeath, Slayer and then Kreator, Sodom, and Destruction, and Brazil’s Sepultura—to metalcore, that combines various elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, by way of death metal, black metal, power metal, doom metal, gothic metal, glam metal, alternative metal, nu metal, folk metal, Viking metal, drone metal, sludge metal, extreme metal, and even retro-metal. From Donington to Ozzfest, Hard Rock Hell to Sonisphere, festival-going has become a rite of passage in the metal world. With Heavy Metal: The Story in Pictures, get an up-close look at Hellfest, FortaRock, Zwergenaufstand Open Air, Eisenwahn, Wacken, and Jalometalli and take a stunning visual tour through the evolution of heavy metal.

Clear by Fire is a blistering new military thriller about an American hero who, in order to clear his name, must take down a highly classified band of soldiers that has gone murderously rogue. Mason Kane was a loyal American soldier and a proud member of the elite, off-the-books Anvil Program--a group of black ops soldiers who wage war from the shadows. But all that changed when his commander, as a part of a twisted scheme to force America's continued involvement in the Middle East, ordered an innocent Afghan family murdered. Refusing the order, Mason finds himself on the run, hunted by his former comrades and labeled a terrorist by the country he served faithfully. Relying only on his survival skills and the help of female Special Operations operative Renee Hart, Kane must embark on his gravest mission yet: unraveling the conspiracy that reaches all way to the President's inner circle and stopping the world's most dangerous soldiers from completing their treacherous plan.

Energies And Patterns In Psychological Type written by John Beebe and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-17 with Psychology categories.
This book encapsulates John Beebe’s influential work on the analytical psychology of consciousness. Building on C. G. Jung’s theory of psychological types and on subsequent clarifications by Marie-Louise von Franz and Isabel Briggs Myers, Beebe demonstrates the bond between the eight types of consciousness Jung named and the archetypal complexes that impart energy and purpose to our emotions, fantasies, and dreams. For this collection, Beebe has revised and updated his most influential and significant previously published papers and has introduced, in a brand new chapter, a surprising theory of type and culture. Beebe’s model enables readers to take what they already know about psychological types and apply it to depth psychology. The insights contained in the fifteen chapters of this book will be especially valuable for Jungian psychotherapists, post-Jungian academics and scholars, psychological type practitioners, and type enthusiasts.

The New York Times bestselling Brit in the FBI series continues with this thrilling “popcorn movie in print form” (Associated Press) pitting special agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Caine against a private French space agency that has the power to end the world as we know it. Galactus, France’s answer to SpaceX, has just launched a communications satellite into orbit, but the payload actually harbors a frightening weapon: a nuclear bomb that can trigger a massive electromagnetic pulse (EMP). When the satellite is in position, Galactus’s second-in-command, Dr. Nevaeh Patel, will have the power to lay waste to the world. A former astronaut, Patel believes she is following the directions of the Numen, aliens who saved her life when she space-walked outside the International Space Station. She is convinced that with the Holy Grail—just discovered by the owner of Galactus, eccentric treasure hunter Jean-Pierre Broussard—she can be reunited with the Numen, change the world’s destiny, and become immortal with them. The countdown has begun when Special Agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Caine are thrown into the pending disaster. They must stop the EMP that would wreak havoc on communication and electronic systems on Earth, resulting in chaos and anarchy. With their high-octane and suspenseful prose, “Coulter and Ellison are a thriller writer’s dream team, and The Last Second is some of their best work yet” (The Real Book Spy).

In sun-baked Phoenix, Arizona, this never-predictable tale tosses into its antic mix a dead father, his two sons--one a small-time ex-con with a consistent genius for sabotaging his own best interests, the other a straight, uptight solid citizen with a moneymaking chain of dry-cleaning stores and a restive ex-stewardess of a wife named Evelyn. Recently released from prison for possession of a truckload of black-market saguaro cacti - and in deep debt to an unforgiving crank dealer, Jimmy Coates returns home only to discover that his brother has cut him out of his inheritance. A not-unjustifiable desire to settle old scores and new sends Jimmy on a robbery spree that wipes out four of his brother's dry-cleaning establishments. But when he finds himself tumbling for a mutinously sexy Evelyn, the impulse to vengeance reverses itself. Unwittingly, however, Jimmy has already set in motion a series of dangerous consequences - adultery, blackmail, love, betrayal - that culminate in a blueprint for murder. Listen in as veteran journalists swap their favorite stories about life on the job at Cleveland’s newspapers during the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s—when fierce competition between the Cleveland Press and the Plain Dealer made daily newspapers the most exciting business in town. It was a job unlike any other, putting out a daily newspaper for a major city. Back then, the door to the city room was wide open and you never knew who might walk in—strippers, mental patients, circus clowns, the mayor … It was an amazing parade. The best stories didn’t just walk in, though. Reporters wore out shoe leather, jammed dimes into pay phones, pressed their ears to closed doors. Photographers hustled to shoot the action, whether a murder victim or a murderer or the Girl Scout who sold the most cookies. Now, here are the stories behind the stories, told by the men and women who covered them—investigative reporters, society writers, theater critics, sportswriters, photographers, editors … Their tales are funny, tragic, human and sometimes outrageous. Find out why reporters in those days knew they had the world’s best job. This is a boisterous, inside look at “the first draft of history.”
