After a bloody 20th century for Christians, the 21st remains onerous for those who face minority status in many places. In fact, an estimated 200 million Christians worldwide – that is, one out of every ten – suffer some form of persecution for their faith. For many, there is a price to pay for being a follower of Christ. In Christians in Danger, author Marc Fromager offers a personal account of his experience in twenty countries where the future of Christians is anything but certain. He explains the historical and political situation of these Christians and describes the day-to-day tensions they face. With neither anger nor complacency, he leads us to a greater awareness of their sufferings and reminds us that we are still living in “the time of the martyrs”. But his message is not one of doom-and-gloom pessimism. Yes, Christians are in danger in many countries around the world, and yes, there are reasons for hope. This book takes a look at both. In this book, Fromager walks alongside many well-known “underground” Christians in countries like Saudi Arabia, where the Catholic population is fifteen times larger than it was thirty years ago, but where everything is absolutely forbidden: no churches, no Bibles, no rosaries, no crucifixes. Everything is done in secret. He also takes you to places like the Philippines and France, where Christianity is well established, but where the situation is steadily eroding. These accounts will make you grateful for your own freedoms and will inspire you to pray for and support those brothers and sisters in the Faith who cannot rely on such freedoms. Marc Fromager is director of the French branch of Aid to the Church in Need, a global charity dedicated to helping alleviate the suffering of believers around the world.

Mafdy was a strong Muslim, radical in his faith, but he encountered questions about his faith that he could not answer. This led him to consider a different path. Agape lived as a good Muslim young girl, until she met Jesus in her late teens. Fear of Allah was the driving force of their relationship with Islam. The love of Jesus turned their hearts and caused them many, many problems. Solitary confinement, imprisonment, torture, rejection, and poverty. Where was God in their troubles? Where was God when rape occurred? Hadn't He promised to be with them and deliver them? When Mafdy and Agape's son was persecuted in school, they decided to give him up for adoption to a family in the United States. Just as God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, they were willing to give up their son. But where was the "ram in the bush?"Had God forsaken them? Would it be better to turn back to Allah? What does a Christian do when God hides his face?Mafdy's wife Agape was also born into a Muslim family. She was raised to believe and practice Islam. She also came to know Jesus as her savior, but when her family discovered she was locked in her room. Despite the persecution they faced, the knew that God was with them and they were called to evangelize their people. God's hand was upon them, even in their suffering. How could they stay and continue to face persecution? How could they raise a son in the midst of turmoil? Their story is one of thousands just like it in the persecuted church. Through this book you can see God's sovereignty in their lives even when His face was hard to see. I pray this book encourages you to find the faith to jump from the boat and join the great adventure of following God. Through the rains, the storms, the persecution the adventure is great for His glory. He does not forsake His people.

Christians often focus on the attacks that are being waged from outside their churches, while things that happen within the body of Christ that can damage our churches are forgotten. You have heard the expression, The best way to destroy a country is from within. This same principle also applies to the church. In Danger Zone: Falling from Within, author and evangelist Casey Johnson discusses the subtle but dangerous trends that harm the church. He issues a wakeup call for Christians to open their eyes and notice the subtle dangers within the Church. Johnson considers five areas of danger: changing the character of God, reducing the depth of preaching, minimizing the Gospel, choosing the wrong church leaders, and stealing the Great Commission. If there ever was a time for the church to rise up, it is now. Christians cannot become so self-centered that they try to make every part of church about themselves. If the local church continues to practice many of these dangers, it can slowly become a place where we worship ourselves instead of God. You can only lead in the direction you are going. -Hunter Johnson

Saving Christianity written by Michael Youssef and has been published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020 with Christianity categories.

A clear and frank exploration of the future of Christianity and whether it needs to be saved. We live in confusing times. Our society has shifted on its moral axis, and many are asking whether Christianity needs to be reinvented--or even reimagined--in order to save it. With Newsweek declaring "The Decline and Fall of Christian America" on its cover and The Daily Beast questioning "Does Christianity Have a Future?" bloggers and Christian commentators are discussing whether we need a "new of kind of Christianity." In Saving Christianity? Dr. Michael Youssef explores this train of thought and its pitfalls. He describes how similar discussions in Christianity's recent past explored the very same question. Saving Christianity? will help you discern what is going on within the church while it reviews the essentials of the Christian faith as described in the Bible. We dare not abandon this "mere faith," as Dr. Youssef describes it, because it is the light for all humanity--and especially for those of us living in today's chaotic times. After reading Saving Christianity? you'll have a renewed confidence in the future of the church and the central place it will occupy for generations to come.

The Dangers Of Christian Practice written by Lauren F. Winner and has been published by Yale University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-23 with Religion categories.

Challenging the central place that “practices” have recently held in Christian theology, Lauren Winner explores the damages these practices have inflicted over the centuries Sometimes, beloved and treasured Christian practices go horrifyingly wrong, extending violence rather than promoting its healing. In this bracing book, Lauren Winner provocatively challenges the assumption that the church possesses a set of immaculate practices that will definitionally train Christians in virtue and that can’t be answerable to their histories. Is there, for instance, an account of prayer that has anything useful to say about a slave-owning woman’s praying for her slaves’ obedience? Is there a robustly theological account of the Eucharist that connects the Eucharist’s goods to the sacrament’s central role in medieval Christian murder of Jews? Arguing that practices are deformed in ways that are characteristic of and intrinsic to the practices themselves, Winner proposes that the register in which Christians might best think about the Eucharist, prayer, and baptism is that of “damaged gift.” Christians go on with these practices because, though blighted by sin, they remain gifts from God.

We must avoid becoming a culture of Christians in name alone so we can bear fruit and reflect Christ in our daily lives. A Dangerous Faith explores common struggles Christians encounter in the ongoing walk with Christ—and how to overcome them. Chris Byers explores how to: identify triggers that lead to sin; assess whether you have made a true conversion; understand why you may experience trials in your life as a believer; spread the message of Jesus throughout the world. Throughout the book, the author identifies dangers Christians may face, such as backsliding, division, doubt, hypocrisy, sacrifice, and the devil. With most of these dangers, the more we mature in our walks with Christ—and the deeper we enter into a relationship with God—the more equipped we will be to overcome them and fulfill God’s will and purpose for our lives. Learn to thrive in your relationship with God, strengthen others in their faith, and discern how to resist Satan with the guidance of this book.
