In our present day and time the idea of "church" has become somewhat commercial and the purpose of the church is being blurred for many people. Church's are being built on every corner but the people are still outside of the church dying. However, before the devil would gain such ground the Lord makes a way of escape. What will it take for God to get us out to those that need help but will not come in the church building. Jesus said it this way; "They that are well have no need of a physician but those that are sick" (Luke 5:31). In other words, those that can admit they need help are the ones who get helped. Pastor Philip Smalls started with the right concept with the church growing, that power was not just for those that came in the church but also for those sitting outside the church. In the bible, Peter and John in the example of the gate called beautiful, the crippled man sat begging and as Peter and John were going into the church instead giving him giving the man money and going in, Peter prayed a miracle, which healed him. This man now walked in "with" Peter and John healed by God's POWER!!! (Acts 3:1-8) Where is God's power today for the church as a whole? In these earthen vessels there is a treasure but in order to get it out, the vase must be broken (2 Corinthians 4:7). This Pastor and wife had to be broken in order for the Lord to move in and through the church the way it was intended to be. God wants to Set The Church On Fire - The Holy Ghost Fire.

Eight women from eight very different backgrounds. Yet the struggles they each faced rang with eerie similarity. These courageous women from across the globe-Pakistan, India, Romania, Former Soviet Union, China, Vietnam, Nepal, Indonesia-shared similar experiences of hardship, subjugation, and persecution, all because of their faith in Christ. Yet all of these women have emerged from adversity as leaders and heroines. The eight modern-day pilgrims featured in Hearts of Fire are the hidden jewels in the church universal. They are worthy role models of faith and passion, and women of every age will gain new strength and hope for their own times of crisis and trial as they read these inspiring stories. Each story concludes with thoughtful self-reflection questions for the reader.

Most Christians have, deep within them, a hunger for a more authentic and fulfilling experience of God. Set Me on Fire examines what it means to be filled with the fire of God, as the believers were at Pentecost. For over 20 years Malcolm Macdonald has been thinking about, studying, and teaching on this subject. Set Me On Fire is aimed at people who have a sense of spiritual hunger and desire for revival, but are not sure what this means, or how to get there. It uses the theme of the fire of God across scripture to paint a picture of what it looks like to be on fire for God. Author, Malcolm Macdonald covers themes such as holiness, revival, mission, God's presence, prayer, intimacy with God and suffering He helps readers to grasp the challenges of seeking to be a radical disciple, along the way offering personal reflections from his own journey.

In the 1990s, churches across the southeastern United States were targeted and set ablaze. These arsonists predominately targeted African American congregations and captured the attention of the media nationwide. Using oral histories, newspaper accounts, and governmental reports, Christopher Strain gives a chronological account of the series of church fires. Burning Faith considers the various forces at work, including government responses, civil rights groups, religious forces, and media coverage, in providing a thorough, comprehensive analysis of the events and their fallout. Arguing that these church fires symbolize the breakdown of communal bonds in the nation, Strain appeals for the revitalization of united Americans and the return to a sense of community. Combining scholarly sophistication with popular readability, Strain has produced one of the first histories of the last decade and demonstrates that the increasing fragmentation of community in America runs deeper than race relations or prejudice. A volume in the series Southern Dissent, edited by Stanley Harrold and Randall M. Miller

What does a nearly forgotten fire of old have to do with the health and vitality of your church? The answer will surprise you! The Great Boston Fire of 1872, which remains the largest fire in Boston's history, is a unique and incredibly intriguing story that offers so many profound insights, messages, and warnings to those willing to delve into the details of the event. In fact, examining some of those very details is one of the purposes of this book, and yet its primary focus regards something far greater than merely bringing to light commonly overlooked pieces of historical information. This book's utmost purpose and mission is to comparatively use information about the great fire in a discussion about figurative fires of negativity (gossip, bickering, power wars, selfishness, burn out, and more) that occur within modern churches, and the book's emphasis regards how you and your church can go about effectively combating these fires. The hope behind this book is that God would allow the story of the great fire to get your attention, to be paralleled with various principles within his Word, and to bring you to a better understanding of how to prevent and extinguish the church-crippling fires of negativity that our arsonist-enemy Satan is hoping will destroy your church! The learning will be interesting and challenging, but it will also be transforming and empowering for the life of your church. If you're determined to let God's Word dictate how you deal with fires of negativity, you can go ahead and say, "There will be no Boston fire in MY church!" As you and others begin applying the biblical principles identified within this book, your church will make sure of it. Let the fireproofing begin! A nine-session study guide is included in the appendix of this book, and it designed to be used within a Sunday school or cell group setting. Each session's material should last approximately 35-45 minutes within a talkative group, and the nine sessions correspond with the nine chapters of the book.

Grady issues a ringing call to his own spiritual family and has identified key problems that must be addressed before revival can sweep the Church. They include: Pride in spiritual gifts, hyper-mysticism, gullibility and lack of discernment, shallow theology and flimsy biblical interpretation, spiritual abuse and heavy handed leadership, exaggerated claims of healings, miracles and manifestations. The fiery passion that was once ablaze within the movement is being smothered. Can the flame be kindled again?
