Water Asset Management In Times Of Climate Change And Digital Transformation written by Robert Kijak and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-02 with Political Science categories.

In this book, climate change and digital transformation are explored as key strategic drivers for the contemporary practices of water utility companies. These drivers seem to be separate, but clearly, they are not. The recent weather anomalies in water stressed countries are discussed, which have been breaking records and become an elevated risk to water assets. In parallel, the book examines a contextual proposition that the concept of the fourth industrial revolution applied to the water sector, Water 4.0, assists with the water supply decentralisation and sustainability, in particular climate resilience. It further suggests that the implementation of an Asset Management System with reference to the ISO 55001 standard is a useful tool in this process.

The purpose of this project was to produce a succinct, educational report (Primer) for use by the drinking water utility industry outlining the current state of scientific understanding regarding the potential impacts of global climate change on water utilities, water supply, demand, and relevant water quality. Utilizing input from industry and science participants, the report includes a summary of the relevant science that explains the linkages between climate change and the hydrologic cycle and outlines what is known and unknown about future changes in regional hydrologic conditions. The report also discusses planning and response strategies. Contains CD with the full searchable Primer, with extensive links to additional reference materials; color pages throughout.

Water Utility Approaches And Responses To Climate Change Vulnerability written by James A. Williams and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with Climatic changes categories.

Climate change poses a variety of challenges for water management, and there is a need to develop methods for understanding and managing risk. While much has been written about the projected impacts of climate change at the continental or regional scale, scientists are quick to caution decision makers about using projections based on global circulation models (GCMs) for local decision making. This uncertainty about specific impacts on local systems has raised concern about the ability of water resource managers to plan for climate and hydrological changes at the local scale, and has spurred recent activity to develop methods for understanding vulnerabilities, including how to downscale climate models. This book examines and documents the steps taken by some of the leading utilities in an attempt to identify the emergent characteristics of water utility climate change vulnerability assessments.

Climate Change And Groundwater Planning And Adaptations For A Changing And Uncertain Future written by Robert Maliva and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-01-26 with Science categories.

This book attempts to bridge the gap between the climate change research and decision-making communities by exploring the impacts of climate change on groundwater from a more applied perspective. Global climate change will impact groundwater demands, quality, and available supplies, and rising sea level may cause water tables to rise, inundating low-lying coastal areas. Groundwater will increasingly be needed to perform a stabilization role in mitigating fluctuations in the supply of surface waters, serving as a buffer against droughts. Climate change has become a frequent subject in the mass media, and the academic literature on the subject is now enormous. An impediment to climate change adaptation with respect to water is a poor link between the climate change research community and the actual decision-makers responsible for water supply planning. Key issues explored are methods for evaluating potential impacts on climate change on local groundwater systems, the adaptation of decision-making process, and how climate change adaptation can be mainstreamed into the water supply planning.
