Cloud computing is the most significant technology development of our lifetimes. It has made countless new businesses possible and presents a massive opportunity for large enterprises to innovate like startups and retire decades of technical debt. But making the most of the cloud requires much more from enterprises than just a technology change. Stephen Orban led Dow Jones's journey toward digital agility as their CIO and now leads AWS's Enterprise Strategy function, where he helps leaders from the largest companies in the world transform their businesses. As he demonstrates in this book, enterprises must re-train their people, evolve their processes, and transform their cultures as they move to the cloud. By bringing together his experiences and those of a number of business leaders, Orban shines a light on what works, what doesn't, and how enterprises can transform themselves using the cloud.

This glowingly exhibits Aristophanes' unbridled imagination and his unrivalled skill at making bellies dance with laughter. In his Clouds, he puts Socrates high into the ether because his Philosophy is ethereal and beyond the reach of mere mortals. It is, Aristophanes declares, about as useful as knowing which end of its anatomy, its mouth or its bum, a gnat farts. This then becomes a contest between Good Education" and "Bad Education" and which is more useful to us. In his Frogs, he travels in the other direction, to Hades' world, which is also beyond the reach of mere mortals. He goes down there to resurrect one of his stage colleagues. All three had died, Sophocles only days before he wrote the play. His TheBirds is a silly, playful thing where he lets his imagination roam wherever it wants. Athens is a mess of lawyers, of idiot politicians and of complicated, intrusive bureaucracy. After the debacle of the Sicilian Expedition the only thing an author of comedies could write was an airy fantasy. Life in Athens had become intolerable so his two ageing heroes leave this city and, with the aid of birds, found their own, up, midway between the ether of Socrates and the hypogeous world of Hades - a land which they called, "Land of the Cloudy Gum Cock".

Three More Plays By Aristophanes written by Jeffrey Henderson and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-04-25 with History categories.

This volume provides modern, uncensored translations of Aristophanes’ Acharnians, Knights, and Wasps. These plays, originally a series, are the world’s earliest political satires, and are made available here for the first time in one volume, augmented by full introductions and notes. In these three works, Aristophanes launched satirical attacks on Cleon, the world’s first demagogue, and explored the vulnerability of democracy to populist manipulation and disinformation. Henderson's fresh translations and exploration of the themes within them enable readers to explore the perils facing democracy in its first century which are still with us today. The Introduction offers the reader background on Aristophanes' life, Athenian democracy, classical drama, as well as on political comedy, while introductions to each individual play provide the reader with context. An appendix also collects selected fragments from Aristophanes' lost political plays. Three More Plays by Aristophanes offers an invaluable collection of these works for students and faculty working on classical studies, theatre and theatre history, and drama. The clear translations and contextualizing introductions and notes also make these plays accessible to students of government, law, and political science, and to the general reader interested in any of these subjects.

Medea And Other Plays written by Euripides and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-11-13 with Drama categories.

`the most tragic of the poets' Aristotle Euripides was one of the most popular and controversial of all Greek tragedians, and his plays are marked by an independence of thought, ingenious dramatic devices, and a subtle variety of register and mood. He is also remarkable for the prominence he gave to female characters, whether heroines of virtue or vice. In the ethically shocking Medea, the first known child-killing mother in Greek myth to perform the deed in cold blood manipulates her world in order to wreak vengeance on her treacherous husband. Hippolytus sees Phaedra's confession of her passion for her stepson herald disaster, while Electra's heroine helps her brother murder their mother in an act that mingles justice and sin. Lastly, lighter in tone, the satyr drama, Helen, is an exploration of the impossibility of certitude as brilliantly paradoxical as the three famous tragedies. This new translation does full justice to Euripides's range of tone and gift for narrative. A lucid introduction provides substantial analysis of each play, complete with vital explanations of the traditions and background to Euripides's world. ABOUT THE SERIES: For over 100 years Oxford World's Classics has made available the widest range of literature from around the globe. Each affordable volume reflects Oxford's commitment to scholarship, providing the most accurate text plus a wealth of other valuable features, including expert introductions by leading authorities, helpful notes to clarify the text, up-to-date bibliographies for further study, and much more.
